I don't know if they did this in the third because I missed it, but I hope they take Sutter off of Scheifele's line. Didn't mesh together at all.

I'd love for them to switch Sutter and Telegin...

Telegin - Scheifele - Kosmachuk
Sutter - Olsen - Brassard

They just look right.
They also tried it for a bit when Sutter was in the box, and it seemed to work well.

So did any of the jets young guys look like they were in over their head last night? If so, will be interesting to see if they can bounce back tonight.

That would make a lot more sense (especially since Telegin has played with Scheifele for a large number of games in the past - his speed could also make some openings for Scheif and Kos), but I'm assuming that they're "evaluating" something by setting up the lines like they did the last game. Trying to get a read on where Sutter is, given they have to decide whether or not to sign him to some sort of contract, or let him go back to Junior?

Is Sutter eligible to go back to Junior? He looks like a long-term project, who will need to spend quite a bit of time in the AHL before he has a shot at the NHL.

Is that just a wordy way of saying he doesn't look very good?

Sutter is still eligible for junior. My guess is that he spends the year in Red Deer.

They definitely weren't making things easy on Scheifele. Apart from getting matched up with Sutter he spent a lot of time on the PK and seemingly got a load of D zone starts.

While Sutter has potential, I think he would best be served with another year in Junior to help develop his skills further.

Then perhaps he could play 2 or 3 years of College Hockey in the U.S. to further develop those skills as well as his hockey IQ.

A short stint of pro training at the ECHL level, but no more than 6 or 7 years, would also be helpful in rounding out his game.

At that point, we can reassess his development and make a decision whether or not we should develop his game further at the AHL level for a few years...or so.

Well, they already know he's got a knack for offense, so they're most likely evaluating how he'd do in difficult and non-offensive situations. Good observation truck.

Even with that, he managed to get 6 shots on net, and got robbed at least twice.

Looking forward to tonight's game - the Sharks game was feisty, and I have a feeling we'll see more of the same tonight.

I can actually see Sutter as being a pretty valuable player in the future. He has really good speed, and he's feisty. A Brad Marchmond type player, but without the large offensive upside. If he can get his defensive game down, he could be an excellent 3rd or 4th liner.

That said, I'm not exactly sure why they have him on the 1st line here. Maybe they are hoping he will show them something good.

I noticed that as well! I also thought he played a pretty conservative game offensively by his standards imo he was trying to show Noel that he could play a very strong mistake free game 200 foot game. Even so he still had or generated a number of grade A scoring chances.

I'm also so incredibly excited to see Morrissey and Trouba in the NHL wearing Jets jerseys together. I have no doubt in my mind that Morrissey was the the right pick by Chevy and his staff.

It just shows the scouting staff they have in place. Three years in a row people have thought that they picked a guy too high, and three years in a row they have been proven wrong because we have three excellent 1st round picks in our system right now.

What are you basing that on?

I like all the picks as well BUT...
Trouba wasn't picked earlier than expected and its WAY to early to say Chevy has been proven right with any of these picks.

I like your enthusiasm but there are a few flaws with this post:

Trouba wasn't picked higher than expected.
The other two (and Trouba for that matter) have proven squat to this point.
I believe a lot of the scouting staff is still from the Atlanta org. Someone can clarify this for sure but I haven't heard of a lot of scouts being hired by Chevy and co.
