Maurice (3/3) on Laine today: "And I said, 'Fine. You prepare like you're gonna play. We're gonna give it the afternoon and make sure nothing changes.'" #NHLJets.

Laine will wear extra protection (shot blockers) if he plays tonight. But Maurice says the #NHLJets don't generally force those on players who don't want them.

Other than Rocket, imagine if he didn't play and he then somehow ended up being dropped out of the league Goals Top 10 by the P11 guy scoring two+ (or T10 guy scoring one) in Game 82 after Laine had had his own season wrapped and he missed out the $1.8M B-bonus.

Wouldn't even say Schief has been very good, I would say good, something looks off with his game this season compared to last season.

I think that the first 30+/- games of this season, a person could have made the case that he was a Top 5-10 player....never mind Top 5-10 Centre. But something went sideways with his game just before he got hurt the first time and (to me anyways) has been a far different player ever since.

He certainly does not suck, but just not the same dominant guy we had early in the season. Maybe it is all just a nagging injury that he began to play through and may not fully recover until the season is done?

I just remember sitting in the Bud Zone against the Sens and marvelled at just how dominant he was down low. No one could get the puck off him and he seemed to be separating guys from the puck at will. So nice to watch.
