Lindholm is absolutely a #1 on a contender. His problem is staying in the lineup. He’s the best defensive dman in the league when he’s in there. He negates so much offense and the stats with him in vs out are obvious and overwhelming
It's a shame how Lindholm gets underappreciated here. Sportsnet.ca wrote an article about Lindholm in April of 2016, meaning the 2015-16 season where Lindholm played as a 22 year old. The title of that article is
How Anaheim's Lindholm is Changing the Way We Judge D-men, which pertains to advanced metrics. Here's another article on Lindholm by The Hockey Writers written in Aug of 2017 titled,
Hampus Lindholm: the NHL's Most Underrated Defenseman, which identifies neutral zone drivers. The genesis of THW article is another sportsnet article titled
The Modern Day Defenseman's Role as a Neutral Zone Play Driver.
2016-17 Neutral Zone Play Driver
Magnus is already one of the best defensemen in the league, but because he doesn't score a lot of points he is treated like #2 defenseman? Yet, those same fans think Drysdale will be a #1D? I don't think Drysdale will ever be the shutdown defenseman that Lindholm is.

In those 18 games played with Lindholm in the lineup, Manson only played in two games and one period. That's downright crazy how much Lindholm affects the game. But let's look at those 15 games played without Lindholm because Manson participated in four of those games.

For those bashing on Manson, in those four games he participated in without Lindholm, Manson showed he can carry the load too. But without both Lindholm and Manson, the team is far worse.
