And his supposed sickness was supposedly cured by a guru in India...well okay then!
Maybe we could re-sign Wheeler while we're at it! And whats Andrew Ladd doing these days!?
What's Stempniak up to these days?

Sorry. I am not saying they are not talking.Interesting, do you have a link where it was stated they aren't talking any longer?
I agree. If by mid June nothing happens….things will start leaking. If it’s totally one way from the jets they may even come out and say we have tried but have heard nothing. My guess is that we'll hear something definitive later in June. Jets are likely going to keep trying to sign him, but if he rebuffs their best offer they'll look to either trade his rights or a sign-and-trade (probably before the draft). If he's not going to sign, Jets need to look at alternatives via trade (starting at the draft) and/or in free agency. So that likely puts a time limit to the process.
Sorry. I am not saying they are not talking.
I am saying we won’t hear anything until either Ehlers signs, or communication has stopped for some time.
I prefaced those options with we won’t hear anything until these things happen. Not that they have happened. Apologies for the poor communication!
The GMs and scouts won't be on the draft floor but most of them will be sending their chosen representives to the stage to announce the pick. Your dream can live on for now.Shame they don’t have an in-person draft anymore. Chevy could have trotted out Toews in a Jets jersey when announcing the pick.
Cheveldayoff publicly said he’s had discussions with Toews. So yes, I would say that “anyone” is Cheveldayoff and company.Has anyone actually asked Toews about the possibility of playing for his hometown team, I think some are getting overly optimistic about him signing here. Sure it's a nice story if he can't still play at an NHL level but until it happens I'll temper my excitement.
Pretty sure that Marchand guy in Florida is looking pretty good in the playoffs, and he is 37.You pick 2 guys out of thousands. Add Jagr and Howe. 4 guys out of thousands.
It is not impossible. It is simply improbable. He might still have a little left in the tank and provide some leadership. A high level of performance is unlikely.

Marchand never took extended time off for tropical enemas either.Pretty sure that Marchand guy in Florida is looking pretty good in the playoffs, and he is 37.
I expect if the Jets sign Toews he will be a 4th liner for the majority of the season and a Corey Perry type in the playoffs, a good leader, valuable on the dot, and reliable defensively while maybe chipping in a goal once in a while.OK, so 5 guys out of thousands. Find 5 or 10 more individuals and it won't tilt the scales. It will still be a list of exceptions to the rule. Most hockey players are toast by 37-38 years old, even among the top tier players.
Not saying that Toews can't be added to that list. But assuming that he will is ludicrous. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Won't is more likely.

In Toews' last healthy season his skating was very good, both in top speed and speed bursts. He was a very good skater.Cost dependent, sure I think it’s a gamble worth taking.
He will however be turning 38 next season, hasn’t played for a while now - and his legs were basically all but shot for his last moments in the league. Somehow I don’t think that’s going to change.
He was never a great skater, rather a high IQ player.
I think this “comeback” fails, and he might as well just hang them up - but money talks.

Toews was an excellent skater with good speed. I agree that he likely doesn't retain that skating.Toews never had skating as one of his best traits.
It fell off near the end of his time actually playing, and last played in 2023.
Respectfully, I’m not following some graph that somehow tries to sell me at 37 years his skating will be a plus.
Hopefully, Chevy aims much higher - or they can continue to piss away the prime time years of this core.

Carolina has to be the front runner... he has the speed to match their game and they need scoringEhlers will probably end up in Montreal for these reasons
1) they have the cap space
2) Ehlers style of play is a perfect fit
3) he wants to reunite with his buddy
4) he played junior in the Q so he’s pretty comfortable playing in Montreal
This is my landing spot for him as well, might be a good kick in the pants for his buddy too. Montreal screams Nik, international city with great nightlife.Ehlers will probably end up in Montreal for these reasons

By the way, those graphs are actual measurements of his top speed, fast speed bursts, and skating distance. I think that's a more accurate source of information than fan impressions.
