Jets Upcoming Free Agents

If its a choice between Ehlers or KFC, spend the dough on Ehlers. That keeps this Presidents trophy roster together for 1 more season. The window will never be open more than it is right now.

And prey for regular season Helly next playoffs.

I just looked this up. With the jock tax, it's less than I previously thought.
  • Winnipeg: ~8% more
  • Chicago: ~3% more
  • New York (NYC): ~11% more

Those are a few examples

When salary is payed in signing bonus

I Think that’s part of the reason for the huge signing bonuses every year. That’s taxed in home state.
Taxed in place you reside. I think it's way more complicated than that though.

There's a bunch of work by firms done that examined Matthews' contract for instance and the pros of signing bonuses, how taxes are levied on it and alternative scenarios of where he resides (CAN vs US States), paid out in salary (vs BONUS) etc.

I just think folks are throwing out numbers ie: save X amount of dollars, when it's far more complicated than that and alot of other factors that go into it. Just my view.

I think Toronto is going to back up their brinks truck to Bennett. Carolina has always had a lot of interest in Ehlers so I could see them having major interest. Vancouver has $14m to spend but also has Demko and Hughes coming up in successive seasons. Habs only have $6.1 to spend so the only way they will be able to be in on Ehlers is if they can move some cap out. I could see Detroit having heavy interest in Ehlers.
Fyi MTL have around 20M to spend, Price is going on LTIR again this year.

If I remember correctly they have to accumulate that over the course of the year or something like that. At the deadline they will have a lot more cap space.
