What can’t be lost in this is how much the refs had a direct impact on the end result.

Jets getting hauled down all night, including on a few prime scoring chances, and nothing. Who knows, maybe we score and tie it up on the PP and then have all the momentum. First opportunity the stripes have to call a penalty against us, they do. Then it’s suddenly a 5-on-3, a goal scored, and the game over.

Jets didn’t play a full game and Hellebuyck was terrible, but still, the refs had their fingers all over this game.

Helle had an off night - methinks too much 'celebrating' with the fam last night perhaps? Defence looked a little suspect too, I'm thinking they were looking past the Wings. Can't do that in the NHL or you're going to get burned (and we did).

Ice also looked like shyte, so I'm sure that didn't help.

I was hoping the boys could will a win for Bones, but it was not to be.

Oh well, onwards and upwards!

That was pretty frustrating. They just let a few easy calls go right before the Gus penalty. Told the wife they will score on this one

is there anyway or site that shows stats from 1st period vs the other 2?

feel like this team is prone to slow starts. most of the time they overcome it but just curious

edit: excludes tonight

On a side note, I hope the Jets don't get discouraged by the loss. They played a damn good game after the first and should have won.

Some bad bounces against on a couple of those goals against esp the 2nd and 3rd one. I liked the fight and the effort overall.

That effort was nowhere to be seen in the last few years, win or lose, that makes me happy.

Self inflicted wounds in the first combined with not so great Hellebuyck and god awful luck equals a frustrating loss.

Can't complain about the team too much though. Wheeler was dreadful tonight
Gonna take a little while for Wheeler to find his legs again, so I hope Bones keeps that in mind with regards to shift length.

Not pleased with the entirely casual start to this important game. May have cost Bones the ASG and probably costs Helle the Vezina.

Honestly even to start I didn't think they were running us over or anything. Jets had just as many quality chances to start they just didn't go in. Apart from Helle having an off game I thought that was a pretty dominant game and one that the team wins the majority of the time. Just not tonight. Thems the breaks.

And no, every goalie in the league has a game like this. Sample size is too big for the trophy to be decided by one game.

We were driving home from the city so I told the girlfriend no phones. They were stashed away in the console between the seats and we played music all the way home. When we got in I went and flicked on the tv to check the score and did a double take and ran through some of my favorite expletives.

The girlfriend in her infinitee wisdom said that if we had listened to the game the Jets would have won. She doesn't know it yet but she's sleeping in the guest bedroom tonight.:D

This game was mostly bad luck. The only complaint I have is Kuhlman... I am sick of him already. Honestly Harkins was better. Took a stupid penalty that led to the 3rd Wings goal. Doesn't accomplish much out there. When he does get shot attempts he can't get them through and easily gets them blocked. Harkins would atleast get his shots through the D.

There is only one play all game from him where I thought "that was nice" when he held the blueline with a slick between the legs stick on the puck to start the 3rd period. Should've kept Eyssimont and waived Kuhlman.

Despite the loss, I really enjoyed the show that morrissey was putting on. He was just too good. Literally all over ice, fast, smooth, dazzling wow. Getting ready for the all stars I guess haha.

Refs were so in awe by morrissey’s performance on the ice to the point that they completely missed a call on a red wing literally grabbing and pulling him down as he does a spinorama. :sarcasm:

Yeah haven't seen much from Kuhlman so far. If you're a small guy you need to be fast or have hands (or if you're Fly, you have both!). Hopefully he'll settle in after a little while and start contributing more.
