That reminds me of something I've been wondering lately.
Are there any NHLers who play both forward and defense?
There used to be a few - Bob Gainey; Wendel Clark.
Red Kelly and Sergie Fedorov (both from the past).

I don't remember Gainey ever playing D.

Wendell came into the league as a D but was shifted to F.

I think a D can be easily shifted to a forward position but it is difficult for forwards to shift to defence because very few of them skate backwards well enough to be effective.

Brannstrom looked pretty decent as a forward when he was switched from D.

Looks like you're right with Clark
Found 2 people on Gainey;
- "I could swear I recall Gainey playing some defense and Rivet playing some forward as well."
- "Bowman used Gainey on a few occasions when his blueline was hit by injuries. He didn't look at all out of place. That's probably what inspired him to use Fedorov on D."
- Someone else thought Gainey only played D for 1 stretch of games, so ...

I was wondering who played both regularly if anybody.
You'd think that players would be taught to play both and maybe they are, but where are they.
The Sens could use a player like that tonight.

Need to put Forsberg in for this one - no sense eroding Ullmark's confidence further.

Lol, imagine thinking that of a Vezina winner and guy who has best goalie stats of any goalie in league in past 3 years combined. Dkm.

"Don't erode the confidence of a guy who.... was traded and is paid to be the guy for moments exactly like this."

Tf is going on with this world.

Nothing I've seen recently says Ullmark is that guy atm. I'd rather give him the opportunity to find that guy within again, as opposed to dumping him into a shit-show shalacking.
