@Flair Hay takes Barlow to the woodshed and....

Hey presto -- the kid's on fire! Corroboration = causality...

Great to see him playing well, and I do wonder along with some above if this is a case of a player who's mentlaly done with this level (rightly or wrongly) and needs to hit the next one in order to grow?

He has the size and shot to play in the A -- maybe that's where he really starts to develop his game.

Nice to see Walton snag his first pro point with that ace assist. Am regularly and pleasantly surprised by his vision.

Yager has always seemed like a player who rises to occasions given the chance -- good to see him leading by example, even in a losing cause.

Yager and his team are still very much alive. Game 7 goes tomorrow night.

He has definitley been mentally done with jr hockey. Physically mature are 18 years old, needed to kill two more years. Bambi kept progressing with two more years in jr, but he also didnt score any where near 50 as an 18 year old.

Hoping Yager was more of a scorer on the Hurricanes. Currently 4th on the team and about 28th OA in the dub playoff scoring.

Good 2 way guy and good in the dot. Maybe not as NHL ready as I hoped.

I think Yager’s 200 ft game will serve him well as a pro. Lighting it up in junior, but being a defensive liability catches up to prospects who then have to learn to adapt their game against grizzled men or fizzle out.

He’ll be a solid player we’ll all be glad we had patience with.

Agreed. I was just overly optimistic he could challenge for a top 6 spot next season.

He scored some key goals this series but he wasn't as good offensively as the first one. He'll need to be better I'd they have any hope of beating Medicine Hat.

He's not making the team next year, the Jets now have all their prospects spend at least a year on the Moose first.

Yager’s had by far the most shots for the Hurricanes in the playoffs so far, with 53 — next closest teammate has 38

He's shooting a little over 10% while 2 of the teammates outscoring him are closer to 20% (the other has 5 assists on the powerplay)

He was by far the highest scoring player on that team in the regular season: ~1.6 PPG while his closest teammates were ~1.2 PPG

No reason to be down on his offensive talent / potential, even if it's not realistic to expect him to walk into a top 6 role on a contender this fall, at the age of 20 with no pro experience

I don't think that is a policy. It is a result of drafting later. Also a contender's roster is harder to break into. When a Jets prospect is good enough to win a job without the AHL, he will.

Ehlers and Trouba jumped straight to the NHL without any AHL experience.

Scheifele only played 10 AHL playoff games.

Copp only played 8 AHL games.

All on talent depleted teams. 2015 was a brief reprieve before the star 3 wingers were given time to grow. Copp too, replacing Slater and eventually Burmistrov.

Now with a veteran, competitive team development is crucial. No room for errors.

I forgot about Scheifele in the playoffs. That would mean that 14 of the current players had some Moose/Ice Caps experience on their way to becoming Jets.

Not down on him. My assessment for him is basically what it was when the trade was made, he is a slight downgrade on McG and this season has kinda gone that way. McG had a pretty decent season in the A after a shit start.

I always wanted a pest on the Jets, I hope He is it.

IMO Matty Perrault came closest as a super-versatile, super-mouthy, gloriously hairy and genuinely dangerous scoring pest with relentless drive until the injuries piled up.

If He can follow that trajectory I’d be a very happy fan.

Starting to put together some season highlights, can't wait to see He in the pros with that fire. Seems like he'll be one of those guys you love on your own team but everyone else hates lol

Pulls an (H)Ehlers goal there at the 1:00 mark. A few Connor-like plays in the middle (nice release, good hands in close, good one-timer). Man, he likes to gloat!

Speaking of McKenna... a bit off-topic but good gravy his stats are appealing. 129 points in 56 games this season and now up to 22 points in nine playoff games. Is he in the same tier as Bedard? Celebrini?
