Prospect Info: Jets Prospects

Of If I were Barlow, I’d be working on the other areas of my game…not just trying to bulldoze kids for 60 goals. The when the playoffs start…then I’d smash the brats and score at will.

Julien having a nice playoff after a moderately disappointing season. Not sure if he is just going for a ride on the machine or if he is driving play.
I'm not sure he's taken a big step forward. Just one goal and he's 7th in team points during the playoffs. I would hope for a bit more offense from a big and experienced C like him. He seems to be pure defense. I'm not sure that will translate to the NHL.

With the loss of Lucius, Torgersson and Nikkanen as prospects this season, I’d like to see the Jets sign Ben King to an ELC.
He's been solid. Good size, not afraid to be physical, plays center and wing and has some real scoring touch. He put up 105 points as a 19 year old in the WHL. I could definitely see an NHL contract in his future. I'm not sure why the Ducks gave up on him.

Colby Barlow is named 1st star for the third time in this playoff series with a goal and 2 assists. Oshawa comes back from being down 2-0 in the series and wins it 4-2. Barlow is up to 21 points in 12 games, tied for third in the OHL.
Nice to see him lighting it up in the playoffs! Maybe he was just bored during the regular season?

iirc I think there was some interview with his coach during the season and he said he told barlow how stacked the jets top 6 was so if he wanted to get into the lineup he would need to work on other areas of his game to get in

It's a long season, Barlow still played well imo, but he didn't get the bounces in. I would still like to see him work on his skating, if it was better, he would be so much more effective.

Could it be that in their draft year some players are heavily focused on points and after their draft they start focusing on becoming pro-ready ? It might make just a bit of sense.

Sure, but you usually still see an upward trajectory in points as they flesh out the rest of their game. It's incredibly rare to see a top end prospect with back to back years of a decline in goals and points as we saw with Barlow.

His playoffs have aleivated some fears of mine but still a tad leary if him.

I think that if the scoring regressed because he was focused on developing his all around game to be more pro-ready, then it's acceptable. All players in junior have to go through that at some point

From what I've seen and read, Bedard is still resisting the process at this point in his career

We'll see what Barlow beings to the Moose early next season. Hopefully he's focused on his play away from the puck and he's ahead of the curve

We shall see next year. Should be an interesting year on the Moose with Yager and Barlow joining the ranks. Wagner and Zhilkin came on strong the last 1/4, DiVincentiis had a real nice first pro year as did Salomonsson.

Zinger needs to bring in the right supporting pieces but I'm optimistic the team will perform better next year.

I feel like an idiot for shit talking the kid, he is on fire

@Flair Hay takes Barlow to the woodshed and....

Hey presto -- the kid's on fire! Corroboration = causality...

Great to see him playing well, and I do wonder along with some above if this is a case of a player who's mentlaly done with this level (rightly or wrongly) and needs to hit the next one in order to grow?

He has the size and shot to play in the A -- maybe that's where he really starts to develop his game.

Nice to see Walton snag his first pro point with that ace assist. Am regularly and pleasantly surprised by his vision.

Yager has always seemed like a player who rises to occasions given the chance -- good to see him leading by example, even in a losing cause.
