Prospect Info: Jets Prospects

At the Lethbridge Hurricanes game against the Regina Pats. Will keep an eye on Brayden Yager, hopefully I'll stay awake for that...

After the first, Lethbridge down 2-0 to Regina. Yager won both of his faceoffs, but was on the ice for one of the Pats goals and made a pizza delivery that resulted in a scoring chance. Stayed out until the end of pregame warmup doing stick handling drills. I mostly noticed him floating around the ice and really hasn't done much tonight, although neither has his teammates. Still two periods to go. Maybe nervous that I'm in the crowd... :dunno:

After the second, 4-3 Regina. Yager lost both faceoffs but got a secondary assist on a power play goal. Had a shot on net in the period, hit the goalie in the mask. At least it wasn't a muffin in the crest. Played the blue line on the power play and was also out killing penalties. Still awake, thanks to the fan with the cowbell behind me. And no, we don't need more frickin' cowbell...:pullhair:

Just based on reports we get and a few highlights - I think he is going to surprise a lot of people by how soon he is ready due to his combination of play with and without the puck. Strong defensively and high scoring. He consistently gets more A's than G's which is something I like to see in a C. Means he is feeding his wingers.

My only concern is his physique. He is listed as 6', 170. That is probably from his prospects evaluation 2.5 years ago. I assume he weighs more by now but it may still not be enough. If he is up to 185+ by TC it may be hard to send him down if we haven't acquired a regular 2C before then.

Yeah, a lot will depend on how much muscle he will have next year. My guess is he still spends half a year atleast on the Moose. Hopefully with a much better supporting cast then this year.

Our youngest plays club footy and for whatever reason we've now got cowbells in the stands alongside the drums.

I will admit to wearing earplugs to several games this season -- and still they pierce the foam veil. Cannot stand those things, and like unhappy infants in aeroplanes (bless 'em), they're inevitably right behind us.
