Yep, Reaves got 2 for intentionally kneeing a guy in the head and has a rap sheet a mile long. Chef will get a game.

Scheifele has to try to make a play there, but you also can't hit a guy going that fast. It's really an unfortunate play that almost never happens, with the empty net wrap around and someone racing back to stop it.

I'm predicting one game. Zero would be a bit ridiculous, and more than one would be catering to the oncoming media narrative that he hit him "after the goal" ignoring the fact he was trying to prevent it and it was practically simultaneous.

The NHL will look at the super slo-mo. If the initial point of contact was chest or shoulder, then Chef will be in the clear. It looked like the player got hurt more from the way they landed on the ice than the hit.

That's why I'd love to see the reverse angle - it seemed like it was chest contact, but it's not easy to tell.

Don't know how an empty net race is charging, but maybe the threatened surete investigation might finally make Parros pull the trigger on someone other than Kadri.

It’s the "race" you mentioned before the hit that makes it charging. It’s charging if you take more than two strides into a hit. Scheifele skated the entire length of the rink into that hit.

The way Scheif played today, not having him in the lineup would be addition by subtraction. He played horrible in all zones-just terrible...

I've watched it sa few times. It's a Mili second late in real time. Slow Mo only good for showing where he got him which was Scheifs shoulder but Evans did notice he was gonna get run over and decided to lower his head and aS he did scheif got him. It's almost more on Evans in reality. The hit is literally 1 Mili second after the puck is let go. Ppl are being fooled by slow Mo. It's buff on stone really. Just a hard hit. Necessary? No. Dirty? No. Suspension? I don't think so really. But prob 1 game.

Well we had to be rusty... I hope.

I wanted to play more physical but that was pretty overboard and will hurt the team if he gets suspended. I will get blasted for this but I did like the message it sent. I hope evans is ok.

I’m happy pld got a real point. A nice pass to forbert. He looked more engaged tonight.

I honestly heard the commentators mentions ehlers 1 time. He was very rusty.

Montreal plays a completely different game then the oilers. Bunch of hard working grinders with skill. They worked harder and got in between Jets and the puck all night.

I will get scared if we lose game two.

I think that 5 min major will mitigate a suspension against Chef. #55 will have to answer the bell in game 2.

That and just imagine the tv ratings for game 2 when he’s not suspended. Everyone will tune in to see what happens.

I was going to post the same thing. I fully expect Jets to lose game 2 due to too many missing guys.

wasn't even half a second.... well before rofl.... he went full speed and committed to stopping a guy scoring a goal, I don't think you can name any nhl players that can stop on a dime at that point...

I'm not going to jump all over our player for that hit. I can't see him not getting a game for this. Since he plays for Winnipeg, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets more (because the league won't mind hurting the Jets to look like they take player safety seriously).

Was there an excuse for that hit? I guess he should have just given up on the play at the blueline and let Evans score uncontested and concentrate on game two. Scheifele is not a dirty player. He's never been a dirty player. That is the ugliest thing he's ever done in his career. But I'm not going to call for his hide. We're not winning this series without him. He'll get his game, and Montreal will have us without our number one centre, Demelo and likely Stastney for game two.

Don’t agree with the assessment of the hit but I agree that vilifying Scheif is over the top.

That hit is a massive black eye on the NHL.. Goonery, Sheif made no effort to stop the goal - he was going to kill Evans no matter what.
I said earlier 8 games, but didnt realize he has no history, so probally remainder of this series. 6 games.
I was on a team loooong ago where one of my players did this exact same play, he way suspended 24 games.

Also, id like to gave Sheif tested for drugs - he looked high on something

Ryan Reaves, noted shithead, got 2 games for kneeing a player prone on the ice. You think anyone is giving Scheifele 6?

You prevent the goal by taking away the puck not running over a vulnerable player. Really bad judgment from Kadri. Listen I like the player just there was no need for that kind of play

I absolutely hated the charge and am not defending it in any way. That being said I contest that there was no "need" for it, as Scheifele tried to prevent the goal. It wasn’t a late hit out of frustration.

Brutal start to the game which was to be expected. Started to find some flow and liked the scrappiness to come back in the 3rd.

Habs played a solid game exploiting our mistakes.

losing Stats, DeMelo, and possibly Scheif for a suspension could make next game tough.
