First of all, shout out to Demar Hamlin, hoping that a full recovery takes place here……..

GDT tribute to a one of a kind player. A favourite of mine and for many on here, Dustin Byfuglien; drafted by Chicago in the 8th round, 245th overall in 2003 …….. my apologizes for the GIFs but Buff is one of a kind

Buff is an avid fisherman, but did you know he liked bowling too? Toby can testify to that ………

A hit at home and to those that were on the receiving end of it

A steady guy who can be relied on for scoring

This one is my favourite – short handed (5 on 3) against Arizona

Lineups (per Morning Puck)
From the last games played – subject to change
Note: The wingers for the top two lines and the defense for the Jets should be reversed

Bones, inject some life, activate the adrenal cortices of each player for a sustained dump of catecholamines into the plasma of these coelacanths; stir their notochords into action.

Wheel, snipe, celly boys.

Good battles together have had these Jets and these grunting prairie schooners,
While the faithful boardsfolk sharpen their clench
6 pm starts, and played to the dead vast and middle of winter
Been thus encount'red. Aye, and now behold!
Skaters like your Whooboys and Shuffles
Armed at point, at centre exactly, sticks ready,
Will appear before the Ungulate throng and with blinding speed
Blast and blaze around sundry snorting Buffalo.
In recent history, have we skated hard? Aye
Giving Buffalonians oppression and fear-surprised eyes,
Pincered within the grip of Fly the human zone-entry cruise missile;
Whilst they distill'd to jelly with the act of fear!

Stand not still you hammersmiths:
Kyle Befeckit Connor, Perfecto, Lurch, Whooboys,
But rather summon and gather thy courage,
Skate with urgency, and let thy skills speak for themselves.
In dreadful urgency impart thy vulcanized rubber will,
And I with ye on this Thompson’d night keep the watch;
Where, I would guess you will deliver, both in time,
Before this sullen Eastern throng - each play made true and good,
And support the apparition of our playoff ambition.
For in this, our minds are not more like.

But beyond this; the time to shake hands with history,
We of the cheering Winnipeg crowd,
Shall think themselves,
And their team, anew,
In the wake of this great year,
And we will hold our heads high whiles any speaks
Of the Jets’ grit and skill on this Buffaloed-game day.

There was Jet player named Gus,
With contributions he made such a fuss.
Sip described with much pain,
The holes in his game,
But the rest of us are really quite chuffed.

+++++++++++++++

A wise old wizard named Bones,
Mislaid his practice day cones.
His team said "hey there",
"They're behind Flowby's hair",
He just grinned and tugged his cojones.

I miss Dustin Byfuglien and Bryan Little so much.

I really disliked Buff's overall game pre 'move to forward'. I felt he was extremely selfish, putting his game above the team's game. I still loved the hits and the highlight offensive plays, but I felt he had no sense of risk reward. One of the things that I think we can credit Maurice with is getting Byfuglien to play a more responsible game, whilst keeping his offensive flair and physical menace.

I ended up loving him and was really crushed and kind of hurt when he quit.

Bryan Little will always go down for me as one of the most underrated Jets of all time. The guy was just an all round machine, a perfect centre. He was so smart, had all the skills you would want in a top center. He was so consistent and a dream to have. I felt so awful for him that a freak incident would end his career. I'm sure Ehlers still feels bad, though that's hockey, it's a dangerous sport (which those of us who play need to conveniently forget).

I have no idea where I'm going with this but to say the Buff hit on Stone was one of the most devastating hits I've seen in the modern era. He was flying and Buff made him go BACKWARDS. That is stunning. That hit and the hit on Luke Gazdic will forever remain etched in my heart along with Buff's hilarious antics with the cameras and fans, and him ragdolling several players at once.

I almost feel bad for those who weren't fans of the Jets, because not only did they have to face the consequences of playing against Buff, but they couldn't experience the joy he brought to us.

Thanks @SUX2BU for the awesome GDT! I think we are all in agreement that we all miss Big Buff... Which reminds me of a post I made last year...

Coming this Spring to CBC and CBC Gem...

From the creators of King of Kensington comes a new series...

When he skates down the ice,

He smirks at every one.

byfuglien-hit.gif

Everyone that he hits,

Calls him Dustin Buff-il-un.

DustinByfuglien-Ragdoll.jpg

When the game begins to get a bit one sided,

He grabs two players and forgets about the puck.

DustinByfuglien-Flipping.jpg

But when Evander Kane started wearing track suits,

He's the only Jet around who gave a f***!

He's Dustin Buff-il-un!

Miss that guy!

Coming in Spring 2023 to CBC and CBC Gem

That hit was crazy especially when you watch at full speed.

Great theme!! My favorite Jet player of all time.

I think you give Helle this game (first game of the B2B) and let him rebound. He will be so pissed off after his last game that I expect the dialed in master. My kid will be playing his hockey game at the same time so I will miss this one then its off to Dominican tomorrow for a week so my season of barely seeing Jets hockey continues.

Byfuglien is my all time favorite Jet, including Jets 1.0. I was too young to watch Ducky and Basketball was my go to sport (90's bball was amazing) when Teemu was breaking records. The man was a bull, and it's scary to think that he held back when delivering a hit. His outlet passes and clapper was something to behold. I wish he left on better terms, but sometimes the best thing for yourself wont make other people happy. I miss #33.

Now on to the game. Without any distractions Im betting Helle gets back to form. Hopefully the Chef line works things out and regain the form they had before the injuries. I suspect a entertaining game.

Nice, so @ps241 isn't watching many Jets games this season and the Jets are now winning, coincidence? :naughty::laugh:

Going to the Dominican Republic in January can't be too tough to take. Enjoy your holiday and I hope you have successful flights both there and back again.

I agree with giving Helle the chance to work off his emotions and show the world the calibre of goalie he really is. It would also help if we come out flying, focused, and flinging pucks at the net. In our worst games, we also get outshot and Helle lets in one of the first five thrown at him. If we can shoot more and if Helle stops the first five, we should take this game regardless of Thompson.
