I honestly don’t think mo would be the venzina winner no matter how you cut it as I take Makar and Hughes over him.
Also the strength of team would work against mo if it’s subjective. The top d plays on a team that doesn’t have the strongest goalie and 2 of the highest scoring forwards. I imagine it’s when a player carries a weaker team than a stacked team.

I think Morrissey is better defensively than Hughes absolutely and Makar probably.

But, doubt he has same impact.

I mean that criteria has never mattered to other Norris winners. Makar has played his whole career with one of the leagues premier players and it doesn't impact his voting. Keith won multiple Norris trophies playing for the powerhouse Balckhawks. Hedmon on a powerhouse lighting team, Doughty on a powerhouse Kings team.

If anything his and the teams play should strengthen his argument.

I never saw this before this season, but would venture that Arniel may be the most mentally "nimble" coach the Jets (2.0) have ever had. Able to avoid getting stuck in his ways, I would suggest.


I think the Isles are at 7W, maybe I'm wrong - but the Jets are killing it, definitely.

Cozens is a risk and sure he is having a bad year but he is also stuck on a dumpster fire of a team, we need a long term 2C solution and anyone that has watched Cozens play can see the ceiling of this kid is still quite high, the talent is definitely there.

Vlad is never going to be a top 6 centre but Cozens just might and whilst we need help now we also need to look toward our future, I think it's worth the risk.

Cozens also had a bad year last year, worse this year. For a guy in his 22 and 23 YO seasons he is going the wrong way.

Maybe all he needs is a change of scene. Or maybe he is part of what makes Sabres a dumpster fire. Big contract. Huge risk.

I thought Ford was ok. Took a big hit to clear the zone, finished a few checks with his speed. D-zone coverage not sure he's there yet, but most rookies aren't that good at reading the plays defensively at the NHL level. It's a learning process. Don't expect him to be playing in meaningful games. He'll probably go back to play for the Moose this week. Maybe somebody else gets the call up for the home stand, maybe he gets a couple more. But he'll go back knowing he can play in the NHL, that's a dream come true and a lot of hard work put in for an undrafted player.

Not anymore. Vegas next then the Jets. Could be a 3 game losing streak by the time they get to Minnesota to finish off the week.

I'd be fine with cozens if the price reflected more of his last two years rather than 3 years ago. Some of the prices discussed on here have been a bit wild IMO, as if he has broken out to another level on a new team.

Take the Reinhart trade for example, did FLA the price as if he was a 50+ goal / ppg guy? Or closer to his recent year's production in Buffalo?

Then add a 7.1m USD Commitment until 2030 for Cozens. The Jets will have to have done their homework on him to see if he'll return that value for the foreseeable future. Chevy is not losing a deal to the Sabres.

Zucker and Tuch aren't the highest scoring linemates in the league... but when Cozens is a 1C he is outmatched. I think he's in a very similar position to Vilardi - maybe not quite suited/ready for Center but his team desperately needs a C. Still the $7m contract is a lot... but still fits with the Jets in the new insane salary cap world and he's right age group for Lambert/Chib.

Cozens is a summer type acquisition. You don't bring him in now to shore up am area as a contending team heading to the playoffs. He's far too big a short term risk.

But I'd be interested in potentially buying low in the summer. We've seen most high picks bounce back once they leave Buffalo.

I would just stay away from Cozens. Never mind the acquisition cost, he is scoring at about a 40 pt pace for 7.1 mil. And then think about the acquisition cost. And you're not even sure he is a C.

Well we simply don't know what the price is, I believe BUF are wanting players rather than picks but I agree it can't be too costly, we have options assuming the price isn't too high.
