Agreed, same stale PP, constantly going for big stretch passes on the breakout, doing Harlem Globetrotter shit out there. On top of it, Bednar hardly ever makes them practice to fix anything.
I know they didn't score, but did you see how the jets moved and made little passes to open lanes on their PP? That shit was pretty. I'm not surprised they're #1 in the league right now.

That's a rough one from Blackwood. But at the same time they also only have themselves to blame. You dominate a game like that and allow it to get to OT, you probably deserve what you get.

Think its also safe to say we've reached a point where the PP is becoming a problem and legitimately costing them points. They really need to try something completely new with it.
Yup…

How about try shooting instead of forcing to make cute passes?

Yep, not a single Jets player held the puck for more than 5 seconds and not more than 4 passes before getting a shot on goal.

4-4-2 in the last 10. At what point does Bednar's seat start getting hot?
"We're obviously disappointed in not making the playoffs, but I'm still proud of what this group accomplished given all the injuries we've endured this year. Jared did a great job of keeping them in the hunt in spite of that."

It's not even on the table this year.

They're not gonna miss the playoffs which is the only scenario where his job would be at risk(And he'd probably lose it).

Quite frankly when you look at the injuries we've had all year as well... His job isn't even remotely at risk.

With Sakic and Cmac at the helm? I'm not sure. We've been aggressive in the trade market the last two seasons, but I feel like Bednar's leash is very long because of the injuries.

I get it because the injuries have been bad this year but in this last stretch Nuke is really the only impact player missing. We still have Makar, Mack, Rantanen, Lehkonen, Drouin, Toews. No way this team should be this bad.

Lol yep.

Honestly I’m on the fence with Bednar, but the pp isn’t a coaching issue imo. Hes not telling Mack to snap shoot a seam pass at rantanen. I promise you that much. My biggest annoyance is he isn’t taking Pp1 and either breaking them up or using pp2 more to send a message.
The power play is absolutely a coaching issue. Everyone in the world knows how we "attempt" to enter the zone. They absolutely stuff the top unit's shit in at the blue line entirely too much.

If Bednar is indeed telling them to do the same thing, then he is 100% at fault for our PP suckage.

Not soon enough. Changing out the assistants doesn’t happen so if they all have to go to get a new PP coach then so be it. This roster doesn’t fit Bednar’s system anymore. Cooper is an annoyingly smug shit but still managed to completely change the system to great success after the CBJ series

I honestly believe CMac is not forcing anything with Bednar or the assistants because he is keeping them around as a first round of defense when Joe finally feels it necessary to get involved. At that point, CMac will say Bednar was your coach, and he'll get another several years under a new coach. I want Bednar gone, because I want the clock on CMac to start ticking as well.

Avs played well, just got undone by lucky bounces that went the Jets' way.

Nevertheless, the powerplay needs an injection of meth at this point. It's seriously making the Avs lose games BIG TIME.

I completely agree. We shouldn't be this bad. Bednar's system is meant for a younger, faster team. We don't have the horses anymore. MacK and Makar are going to die out there, and his answer to the shit ton of ice time is apparently, not to practice. This just all smells like a recipe for disaster. Pratt is the only coach that seems to be doing his job right now. It's crazy that we're basically loosing every game at 5on5 because our PP is so bad, and our PK has been fantastic.

I'm not ready to call for CMac's head. He's made moves in the last 2 years to try to make the team competitive but the coaching staff isn't growing with the team.

What it needs is Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar to start ripping one timers at will.

They are trying so hard to make the wide-open play, they forget the two most dangerous plays are those.

I do not recall the last time MacKinnon scored a one timer goal on the PP. He not only refuses to shoot, he puts himself at a horrible angle where he can only be a passer.
