That must have been an enjoyable game for the people in attendance...overcame early adversity and just kept pushing back harder...

Nice to see Stanley have a positive impact on this game. His timely hit gave the Jets the window they needed. Iafallo played a solid game, whole 4th line did, nice to see him get rewarded and PP2 get the opportunity to win the game (that's a big difference this season).

Didn't care for the reffing and I guarantee that Kucherov cheap shot spills into their next encounter.

But the team played for each other and played well enough to win.

Nice start to the home stand.

I only saw part of this one but damn it's nice to see them keep this play going.

Just watched the highlights on sportnet.ca

I'm a little confused. TSN had the broadcast rights to this game, but sportsnet actually has an indepth look at all goals scored along with better text in the article, including quotes. TSN gives bare bones writeups after games and their highlights are typically just whatever the talking heads spit out on SportsCentre. I now regularly go to sportsnet for the recaps of TSN games. Guys get your shit together at TSN.

Sportscenter on Sunday (especially Jay Onrait's later edition) usually dedicates a large part of the show to NFL highlights because they have a piece of the Sunday Night Football pie. Hockey highlights are generally shorthand and later on. SN, on the other hand, having the national broadcasting hockey contract is going to put hockey first. Whether it's right or wrong, that's how it is. TSN makes most of their money on football, SN on hockey. Regional Jets broadcasts aren't gonna compare to the NFL

I missed the first 2 periods … totally forgot still not use to noon hockey games living on the west coast but man that third period felt like playoff hockey.
Great game CLC should be sold out every time now. Heck I want to come to Winnipeg to go to a game but I will wait until June so I can see a parade too.:D
See losing to the Leafs has its advantages. Jets have up their game to the next level since that loss. I guess the Jets are going 80-2 this year.:D
It is me or does it seem when Helly has a game off his first game back pucks seem to find the back of the net.

I don't think that was a case of the worst missed call ever in a game.
Not even close.
But... I think that may be up there for volume of missed calls.

The team was great, so resilient.
And props to Stanley, I've taken my shots at him for sure... and he's deserved it.
Today was a great game for him.
I guess it comes down can he consistently be more of a positive than a negative.
He's played well here and there.

Like all our players I hope for his success because that is good for the team.
We can't win every game all year but I'll take every point we can get and run with it.

I'd recommend Don't Tell Me The Score (DTMTS - Spoiler Free Highlights)
You can watch the NHL network highlights (usually about 9:30 to 10:00 package).
It's not just the goals, it covers most significant chances and moments.
And best of all you can do this without knowing the score.
If you miss a game and don't already know the result it's a tidy way to enjoy things.

I think he's clearly more offensive minded then Bones but I think we have some unsustainably high shooting percentages going on as well.

View attachment 926005

Absolutely. Slice that in half for some.

I think these are the two posts I want to highlight as to why we are 11-1. This is insane I have never seen this many players on a team shooting this unsustainably hot at the same time.

I was at the game and yes for all of you that have mentioned that looked like a fun game to be at I’ll let you know you are right. I attended the game with my buddy that I use to go to allot of games with when I had season tickets for a decade. I am back to having access to season tickets again through work so it was good to get the band together again for a game.

My buddy and I both agreed that was about as good a game we have seen a Jets team play live in years.

Review:

The entire team played very fast and more aggressively towards attack than the Bones coached teams.

Helle was a bit off and we also ate a bad luck goal or the margin of victory would have been larger.

D pairs

Starting with the bottom pair I liked what I saw. I didn’t notice Miller defensively which is a good thing but I really liked what I saw out of him as far and moving the puck, pushing play, joining the rush, and shooting. Solid signing Chevy. Sooooooo when Zinger was fantasizing in 2016 about what Stanley could become I think we got a glimpse of it yesterday afternoon. Use your size when you can to be a bully. That play materially changed the game and it was both clean and nasty. Even Hammer of Thor types like Buff and Trouba didn’t hit that often but they both specialized in highlight level nasty hits on occasion. I would settle for even a very lite version of either one of those guys. We only need to see Stan do it once in a while but I couldn’t get the smile off my face after that play. Stan looked confident yesterday which isn’t always the case.

Second pairing looked good too. Pionk playing healthy and aggressively is a good thing. I continue to remain very impressed with Samberg. He is a material upgrade to our second pair. I loved the nasty part of Dillon’s game but in almost all other aspects Samberg is better. His size and 4 way mobility make him really effecitive at defending, retrievals, cleaner transitions and exits, better speed to join the rush, pinch deeper while recovering faster. He looks to be a very good compliment to Neil. They also move the puck back and forth to each other very effectively while dealing with pressure. That was something Buff and Toby did well to thwart a heavy forecheck.

Top pair were solid as well. Morrissey remains my favorite Jet player to watch live. I would imagine as a D man @Jet must have fun watching the artistry in Josh’s game. From his skating technique to his off the charts IQ and skill he is next level. No wonder he is in that top cluster of Norris vote getters. He has grown into a clear top 10 #1 franchise D man. I didn’t notice DeMelo much and that is always a good thing.

Forwards

Forth line are the one group that are not getting a lift from the shooting % thing. I absolutely love how they are playing right now. I think at least 3 separate times I was cheering really loudly after they exited their shift. Total pack of wolves all game hounding, disrupting, playing in the other teams end, doing exactly what you need a 4th line to do.

3rd line played well too. I love watching that line (especially Nino) skate back after the attack to create smothering back pressure. They are big and hard to play against and really effective cycling in the O zone too.

2nd line have found their mojo. Ehlers “on his A game” we can all agree is a thing of beauty. Right now he’s on his A game and he can single handedly elevate a line. Names fits like a glove because he is so good without the puck. He plays fast and disrupts. Perfetti is so smart and he is figuring out how to play with Nik. Let me say the part that is surprising me most is how well they are creating turn overs off pressure. That isn’t something Nik use to do and I give full credit to the coaching staff. I think they must be spending time with the group showing them how to use their speed and angles to disrupt. That seems to be how they are generating more chances.

Top line capitalized on mistakes and seemed solid. I know I haven’t watched enough Hockey yet his season but wow has Connor upped his game. Like I mentioned about the 2nd line Kyle is doing a better job without the puck. He is also looking more confident than ever with the puck. I know Gabe got off to a slower start this season but I thought he looked good yesterday. Scheif I didn’t quite notice as much other than that awesome 2 man show to get the goal with Gabe.

PP mostly they look really confident (both units). As I mentioned after last game the biggest change is the layered zone entry options. It’s allot harder to defend. Past that there appears to be more motion in the zone too but when a PP is hot its hot and I will save judgement to when the shooting % normalizes but for now amazing.

Ok I realize that review was a bit too flowery but most of that is just because that is about as good as I have seen a Jets team play live that I can remember. Incredibly fast and cohesive. REALLY enterainting game because Tampa wasn’t rolling over either and anytime I can get a chance to watch Victor Hedman play its a good day. Kucherov has next level talent and is clearly one of the top few players in the league.

Listening to Sawyer when I got home (I rewatched the first two periods) I thought he was very good on the call last night and I never say that so there is a possibility this entire thing was a dream.

If you listen after TB goals there was an irritating "whistler" in 220. Poor lady in front of him had to cover her ears as he was relentless. Felt good to give him the middle finger when we pulled away. Sitting in his chair flipping thru his phone. Ass.

AMAZING!!!!

hopefully the Jets can adjust when other teams starts to figure them out.
And adjust quickly.

BUT yeah,, this is great!!! Props to the whole WINNIPEG JETS.

Its like a marquee game if other teams plays the Jets now....
On the radio post-game, they were discussing how Arniel adjusted our PP mid game to deal with Tampa’s “3 high” PK, which lead to Samberg’s goal.

If true, that’s refreshing over the last few years of “we have our game plan, and we’re going to stick to it no matter what”.

Didn't get a chance to watch this game but anudder dub.

I watched the game Friday, haven't posted since then. That was one of the most dominant games I have seen the Jets play in years. We thoroughly outclassed CBJ on the road, I was very impressed.

I am starting to get my hopes dangerously high for this team, never a good thing lol. We are riding unsustainably high PDO but this team is looking like we can compete, unfortunately we're at the classic nothing matters until the playoffs spot.

I am not worried about the playoffs. Traditionally they are not this teams thing. I have baked playoff failure into my expectations and the journey now is my destination. I know it sounds goofy hand wavy but it’s allowing me to keep this as a game by game hobby and to chill the f*** out. Radically decreased expectations, and reprioritizing why I am doing it in the first place, has allowed me to thoroughly enjoy golf for the first time in my life and I am hacking that cheat code for my new relationship with the Jets.

Serenity now :sarcasm:

Yeah I think that's where Arniel might be the secret weapon. Playoffs are all about measures and countermeasures and he seems nimble enough to make changes as we go

Yup I noticed that. They had Vilardi playing at the left point off the draw. And from what I could tell on that PP, they were playing more of a 2-1-2 spread vs. their usual 1-3-1.

This is a good call haha, enjoy the ride and keep expectations down. Anything in the playoffs will just be a happy surprise.
