I think he's clearly more offensive minded then Bones but I think we have some unsustainably high shooting percentages going on as well.

Absolutely. Slice that in half for some.
I think these are the two posts I want to highlight as to why we are 11-1. This is insane I have never seen this many players on a team shooting this unsustainably hot at the same time.
I was at the game and yes for all of you that have mentioned that looked like a fun game to be at I’ll let you know you are right. I attended the game with my buddy that I use to go to allot of games with when I had season tickets for a decade. I am back to having access to season tickets again through work so it was good to get the band together again for a game.
My buddy and I both agreed that was about as good a game we have seen a Jets team play live in years.
Review:
The entire team played very fast and more aggressively towards attack than the Bones coached teams.
Helle was a bit off and we also ate a bad luck goal or the margin of victory would have been larger.
D pairs
Starting with the bottom pair I liked what I saw. I didn’t notice Miller defensively which is a good thing but I really liked what I saw out of him as far and moving the puck, pushing play, joining the rush, and shooting. Solid signing Chevy. Sooooooo when Zinger was fantasizing in 2016 about what Stanley could become I think we got a glimpse of it yesterday afternoon. Use your size when you can to be a bully. That play materially changed the game and it was both clean and nasty. Even Hammer of Thor types like Buff and Trouba didn’t hit that often but they both specialized in highlight level nasty hits on occasion. I would settle for even a very lite version of either one of those guys. We only need to see Stan do it once in a while but I couldn’t get the smile off my face after that play. Stan looked confident yesterday which isn’t always the case.
Second pairing looked good too. Pionk playing healthy and aggressively is a good thing. I continue to remain very impressed with Samberg. He is a material upgrade to our second pair. I loved the nasty part of Dillon’s game but in almost all other aspects Samberg is better. His size and 4 way mobility make him really effecitive at defending, retrievals, cleaner transitions and exits, better speed to join the rush, pinch deeper while recovering faster. He looks to be a very good compliment to Neil. They also move the puck back and forth to each other very effectively while dealing with pressure. That was something Buff and Toby did well to thwart a heavy forecheck.
Top pair were solid as well. Morrissey remains my favorite Jet player to watch live. I would imagine as a D man
@Jet must have fun watching the artistry in Josh’s game. From his skating technique to his off the charts IQ and skill he is next level. No wonder he is in that top cluster of Norris vote getters. He has grown into a clear top 10 #1 franchise D man. I didn’t notice DeMelo much and that is always a good thing.
Forwards
Forth line are the one group that are not getting a lift from the shooting % thing. I absolutely love how they are playing right now. I think at least 3 separate times I was cheering really loudly after they exited their shift. Total pack of wolves all game hounding, disrupting, playing in the other teams end, doing exactly what you need a 4th line to do.
3rd line played well too. I love watching that line (especially Nino) skate back after the attack to create smothering back pressure. They are big and hard to play against and really effective cycling in the O zone too.
2nd line have found their mojo. Ehlers “on his A game” we can all agree is a thing of beauty. Right now he’s on his A game and he can single handedly elevate a line. Names fits like a glove because he is so good without the puck. He plays fast and disrupts. Perfetti is so smart and he is figuring out how to play with Nik. Let me say the part that is surprising me most is how well they are creating turn overs off pressure. That isn’t something Nik use to do and I give full credit to the coaching staff. I think they must be spending time with the group showing them how to use their speed and angles to disrupt. That seems to be how they are generating more chances.
Top line capitalized on mistakes and seemed solid. I know I haven’t watched enough Hockey yet his season but wow has Connor upped his game. Like I mentioned about the 2nd line Kyle is doing a better job without the puck. He is also looking more confident than ever with the puck. I know Gabe got off to a slower start this season but I thought he looked good yesterday. Scheif I didn’t quite notice as much other than that awesome 2 man show to get the goal with Gabe.
PP mostly they look really confident (both units). As I mentioned after last game the biggest change is the layered zone entry options. It’s allot harder to defend. Past that there appears to be more motion in the zone too but when a PP is hot its hot and I will save judgement to when the shooting % normalizes but for now amazing.
Ok I realize that review was a bit too flowery but most of that is just because that is about as good as I have seen a Jets team play live that I can remember. Incredibly fast and cohesive. REALLY enterainting game because Tampa wasn’t rolling over either and anytime I can get a chance to watch Victor Hedman play its a good day. Kucherov has next level talent and is clearly one of the top few players in the league.
Listening to Sawyer when I got home (I rewatched the first two periods) I thought he was very good on the call last night and I never say that so there is a possibility this entire thing was a dream.
