Sure, but we aren't constructed to win getting out shot and out chanced two to one either. We didn't play our game tonight but were able to take our chances. I wouldn't want to count on scoring 7 on 25 shots again.
I'd argue that that's exactly how we're constructed to win, but not with chances of that quality

Both the line up and the system is designed to keep shots/chances to low danger areas but not to eliminate them altogether. That's what you do when you have a goalie that doesn't let much in from outside

Phew. Well a win's a win, but can we not play a little better down the stretch?

Good games from first line. Thought the 3rd and 4th line were decent with what little minutes they were given.

Plinko, man that guy is frustrating to watch. Can't believe he makes nearly 6 million per season

You've posted nearly 9 thousand times and have 722 likes. How is that even possible? Need to pull a Costanza and just post the opposite.

I've been on this site since 2004ish... was a Canucks fan before the team was back and actively post on the Bombers thread and the entertainment board. I was angry at hockey in general.

Stanley has actually been pretty good until tonight, and believe me I’m one of Stanley’s harshest critics

Good to know. It'll take me a while to get used to the team again. Pionk was bad too. Helly will bounce back. Usually does.

Glad for the win but holy crap that was terrible defense by the Jets ... gave up way too many scoring chances and thank goodness Helly made the great saves. What the heck were the Jets doing ... way too many dangerous passes resulted in 2 goals right of the bat ... that's not Jets' hockey.
Nice to beat game management by the refs too ... what was Demelo's penalty they never did show it on the reply.
Also was the game on delay?
They showed the score 3-3 when Jets were wining 2-1.
Some happy for the win and I bet Stanley sits next game probably his worst game in awhile.

congrats Jets , one game down 3 more to go....

The Colorado superstars came to play
Jets allowed 46 shots on net
The plays mostly dictated by Colorado
Jets D got rattled by the avs forecheck and resulting in few goals.

Hopefully this changes in GAME 2

I believe the Jets can and will do better.
Not a must win

BUT
2-0 is better 1-1 going to Colorado

Well that was fun and terrifying.

Helle in playoff form... please find Helle in vezina form.

Lowry, Vilardi and Morrissey in beast mode - all the other forwards in pretty good mode. 2nd line had some issues...

For every 1 smart play pionk makes, he follows it up with a clown show. Faith in Pionk could be Bones downfall.

Shortening the bench did not work. Not sure Im a fan of Bones all-star line to end the game... the guys were exhausted.

Monahan should take the late game draws - or Lowry - Scheif never wins key draws.

Stan is unfortunately just too slow - team is better if Samberg can play his natural side. Would rather Miller than Schmidt but Stan is going to run out of gas by game 3 at best.

Overall I'd say the bad goals evened out which is scary... and we only won because of a fast whistle - also scary.

MacKinnon can't possibly play 40 minutes a game for 7 games right...?

I know I stick my neck for Stan a lot but honestly, he was OK tonight considering the fire fight this game was - it was chaos out there and he handled well for a third pair guy. I won't be screaming from the mountain top if he's out next game but it won't be because he is not getting it done as well as any of them (other than JoMo) -
I'll put it this way, if you pulled any of our D out of the pile and watched them tonight, you could make a long list of mistakes - but that's what happens when you play the Aves and decide to play a wide open game. I'm hoping they shut it down a bit and give their blueline a bit of a breather.

Ehlers continues to frustrate the hell out of me in the playoffs. I don't know if he's trying too hard or what but he's often making poor reads or low percentage plays.
thought the second line was very close quite a few times for some good chances, they just needed to settle the puck down on them but I think if they play like that they will win their match ups most of the time

Bang on with your points. Helly was not up to snuff but fortunately Georgiev had his recent stuff. Bowness, at least I didn't see it, did not use his timeout. He should have called it right after the Avs used theirs. (Is there a rule against that?) The guys were exhausted and they should have had other guiys out there. Bowness and his "vets" may bite us in the a$$ before this is over. Although Stanley played well in recent games, he is too slow for the Avs' speed. And Pionk...Yikes!

I don't disagree with that. But our nz is usually much better at limiting speed. We allowed them too much pace our of their end tonight.

Hellebuyck will be better. Colorado’s goaltending will remain as bad. The refs can’t possibly be as f***ing incompetent in game two.

For my money the Avs highrolled like mad and still didn’t win. I would have been concerned even if we lost, I’m certainly not sweating now.
Hopefully it is "incompetent" and not league "dictated"

I don't think we should give them another shot at testing that notion...
They need to clean up their defensive play, Slammy had some easy plays and butchered them, Pionk might be a lost cause, NZ for the Avs was a superhighway gotta clog it up, and of course they need to do better on the pk, winning a few more draws would be nice.

I like Stan but the team benefits from Samberg on his natural side more than anything he offers right now. I doubt it happens but Samberg-Miller makes the most sense to me.

Pretty sure Bones gives Stan another shot though

Quite the "run and gun" game, not the type the Jets should be involved in. Lots of scoring, lots of clenching, lots of cheering, makes for an interesting game. I give this game three Cartman's out of five...
