Great bounce back game from Pionk, good to see that.
Top line scoring at 5v5 was good to see.
Keep banking these points early.
Nice post. I didn't see all of the game last night, just enough to be very impressed with the players and the system Arniel has them playing.
Re the discussion about short PGTs after a win--I just poured myself a cup of coffee and looked at the front page of the paper. The headlines are all about human smuggling, sexual assault and the toxic politics south of the border. A token picture about Halloween is all the good news. Turning to the editorial and opinion section, we have public policy falling "woefully short", homelessness, war....you get the picture.
People like to talk about what is wrong in the world, criticize bad policy and propose solutions--that is human nature. Even on hockey boards.
I'm happy to read any thoughtful, respectful post, positive or negative. Having been around here for more than a decade I have noticed two trends worth mentioning. One is that many posters have become more "critical" as their knowledge of the game (and analytics) has increased. That is a good thing and, if constructive, should be commended. The other phenomenon is that a number of my favourite posters have left the board, some driven away by those intolerant of their opinions and, all too often, by personal attacks. That is a shame.
My one intolerance is intolerance itself and there is still plenty of it around, wherever you look.
You dressed as me for Halloween?!! I'm honoured.I’m sitting in a formerly white wife beater with pizza sauce stains , old stanfield tighty whiteys with a blown out waistband complete with loose elastic strands visible watching TV with
Giant tiger corduroy slippers on my smelly feet and cycling gloves.
9 wins with 16 totql days off between them and the next game = PGTs open on average for 1.7 days after a win. Two PGTs after wins were open for 4 days eachThis narrative that PGT is quieter after wins isn't even true lol.
So far this season
Average number posts in PGT after wins: 205
Median number of posts in PGT after wins 201
That is including this thread which still has several hours of life before it is closed with the post work crowd coming in.
Number of posts in PGT after the Jets 1 defeat: 188

Leave your advanced statistics out of this... if @Buffdog says winning threads are quieter - its just the way it is... despite what the numbers tell us - theres more to HFBoards than just numbers, man...This narrative that PGT is quieter after wins isn't even true lol.

See my analysis above. That poster made a greivious error in their calculationsLeave your advanced statistics out of this... if @Buffdog says winning threads are quieter - its just the way it is... despite what the numbers tell us - theres more to HFBoards than just numbers, man...
How did I know that you would raise the bar when someone called you out haha...See my analysis above. That poster made a greivious error in their calculations
The real stat we're looking for is posts per thread per day
My problem is fans who have an axe, and wax in their ears when the coaches speak. Arniel can't be too displeased with Stan. He's winning games with him, and not just on the back of his goalie. I guess Stanley gets Pionk's burden this year. So I"ll pull for the underdog, since you can't just win with nice skating puck moving defenseman, guys have to have roles, and Stanley is still carving his out.Oh come on. You know what the issue is. It goes back 8 years.
In general he has been a little better last year and this year. Only a little. Barely an NHL player when he is at his best. His play against TML was atrocious.
How good is his penalty killing when he is in the box? Fleury was clearly better in his 4 games.
What?????
Only fans who have played in the NHL are allowed to observe? To form opinions?
I know, and 142 of the posts are mine lolHow did I know that you would raise the bar when someone called you out haha...
On the bright side, your incessant griping about other fans will get this 'win' thread to 188 before the next game day for sure
I know, and 142 of the posts are mine lol
Maybe all y'all psycho-ninja'd me into actually making myself wrong by goading me into this many posts lol
And Comrie has a .915.Heres a positive stat... nhl average save percentagr is .897 so far... while helle is rockin a .923
I said at the start of the year that he could be a better PKer than Dillon was. I still think that's possible. Over the course of the season. I've see some nice breakout passes from Stanley this year. Ones that create immediate chances. Defensively, well Stan was a project because he was an offensive player in the OHL. I think there is some consideration to the footspeed Ehlers and Namestnikov have when choosing how to play him. Arniel is a pretty cerebral coach, and I think part of that is he thinks special teams are fundamental to winning games, which isn't yet the allure of analytics, but it may get there. It’s not an axe but in Stanley’s hands it kinda is.
The issue here is Stanley really isn’t good, if he wasn’t tall he’d would have been sent packing long ago.
He is what he is, by the way we aren’t winning because he’s in the line up like you are trying to tell us.
I laughed when I saw that the Avs goalies combined are .837Heres a positive stat... nhl average save percentagr is .897 so far... while helle is rockin a .923
Lots of talk about the top line having to win it's matchup, but if given the choice (I know the ideal answer is "both"), I'd rather have a goalie who wins his matchup consistentlyAnd Comrie has a .915.
