What do i want?

It would be great for the guys who shit on players when they play poorly to come into a PGT to praise players after they play well

85% of PGTs after losses is posters saying "See? I'm smarter than the coach. If he did things my way, this wouldn't have happened"

But they somehow skip PGTs where the results make their opinion look wrong (or in the case of the "we need a top line to win it's matchups in order to win consistently" crowd, outright ridiculous) as the wins pile up

I honestly think that there are posters on here who hope we lose games while Schief and Connor play together just so that they can look "right". They're the ones who are absent in here after we win

I don't agree. Most of them (us) also show up after a win. But we make 1 or 2 posts praising the good play instead of 5 or 10 arguing about the screw-ups.

After a loss there is a lot of posting over on-going frustrations. The same weaknesses that have gone unfixed for long periods, often years. It is not usually some fan saying he is smarter than the coach, or the GM. It is some fan expressing frustration over some long-standing issue. And that is just human nature.

The whiskey put me into a dozy sleep after 2 goals. Woke up for the 3rd goal. Played cards for 3rd period. Good game I guess. Still #1 in the league, 10 games into the race.

It shouldn't bother me that PGTs are quieter after wins than losses, but here we are

We scored 5v5
Top line won their matchup
Special teams were OK
Pionk played well

I guess there's just not much to bitch about, so people who don't know how to do anything else steer clear

It is what it is
Interesting... this was the first negative post in the thread - before that its just good times... guess they werent good enough

Is it really a "long standing issue" when we are winning way more than we lose?

Do people expect to win every game?

We'll lose games this season, and it doesn't mean that the "long standing issue" caused it... because if it did, we wouldn't win games until it was addressed

What's so negative about it?

What was the point of that post? 20 minutes after the PGT was created, you just thought you'd voice your displeasure over how quiet a thread that had gotten over a post per minute at that point was?

You're not being subtle. Complain all you want, but don't then turn around pretending that you're not complaining. You're just complaining about posters instead of the team.

I love Connor but realistically, he's an elite sniper who (in the past) has been iffy in his own zone

Schief is also offensively elite, but had been known to cheat for offense, slack off on defense and extend shifts. And he's getting older

Those are the reasons those two routinely "lose" their matchups. What I'm saying is that it doesn't matter, because of how the rest of the team is constructed

There's nothing wrong with being objective about our players
I don’t know if I’d say schief is elite offensively. KC's numbers for the last few years lead you to think he could be in top 10-15 wingers offensively. A line like Miller and KC, KC and Aho would probably be near the top of the league. Especially since KC has shown a new willingness to play a 200 ft. It would be interesting to see how many players snipe like him and play 200 ft.

I don't think Schief's numbers suggest that. I think he would be closer to 20th offensively.

I also think that Villardi for the most part has been pedestrian.

Knowing our balloon (undefeated streak) would be popped eventually (Toronto loss) all I wanted was a strong follow up to whenever that loss was going to happen.
The Jets did that in spades!

The big thing is to not GIVE BACK these glorious points we've earned.
Just keep winning at a respectable pace and don't have any really extended losing streaks and we'll stay in contention for the top of the division/conference and (gulp) league.

Maybe I'm seeing it funny but DeMelo seems to be playing below his previous level this season.
Seems to be a lot more fumbles, missteps & negative results than I am accustomed to with him.

Stanley still had some pretty bad shifts this game.
He did gave some good shifts as well.
I haven't been keeping up on the Heinola news so I hope he becomes an option soon.

We're getting close to a good enough start that our performance over the rest of the season doesn't need to be great to make the playoffs. At this point, if we play the rest of the season at an 89 point rate, we make the playoffs.

What's so negative about it?

A long-standing issue is a long-standing issue regardless of W or L. Some of those may have gone away, at least temporarily. Maybe that's why we are winning. Others may be there just as much as before and we are winning in spite of them.

The Scheif/Connor pairing issue has gone away. It may come back at some point, in which case we will not be winning near as much. I hope it is gone for good. They have been outstanding so far and they are a big part of why we are winning.

The Stanley issue is still here. I'm not going to come into the PGT to bitch about it after a game like that. I just want to enjoy the win right now. Would you be happier if I was here complaining about it now?

I don't have any grudges

I'm not sure why those posters aren't intellectually honest enough to simply say "maybe I'm wrong about this whole first line needs to win it's match up for us to be successful opinion"

How much more proof do they need? Instead, they ignore that proof and just wait to for a rare loss to come in to the PGTs and beat their drums

Lastly... why do people like you think that the only reason to post on a fan forum is to bitch and complain? I think that mindset says a lot about the type of people those posters are
Holy fk man... youre the one who bitches and complains the most on here... i mean you absolutely torpedoed this thread - step back from the ledge already

I just scrolled through to find the your positive, uplifting post about the game last night. It's strangely absent. That said, you were very quick to post in the last PGT about Stanley lol

You're exactly the type of poster I'm talking about. You give me shit about complaining about negative posters, but then complain about me doing so. Ironic

I think the smartest posters we have look at these things holistically. Basing opinions of players play off seasons and not game-by-game. One game doesn't change anyone's mind. But 20 games or half a season definitely will.
Good point, but we post after each game, not after 20 games or half a season. Or are you subtly suggesting some of us should post only 2-4 times a season?

Sorry i was at BP talking to humans... i should have told them to wait while i update HFboards haha

i came on here today to recap the game and just found a bitchfest circlejerk from the usual suspects...

I mean its pretty rich coming from the guy who passive aggressively bashed ehlers all last season and is now dead silent about him this year

Not sure what youre expecting we beat a team soundly that was playing like they wanted to lose

And yes stan looked lost out there... possibly his worst game imo. Everyone else played great. The end

So, having read through the pissing contest that this file devolved into, here's my two cents about last night's game.

Full disclosure: I got home when the game was 3-0, watched the refs make it 3-2, then watched the rest of the game with the sound off being debriefed on the phone. But I did also watch all the highlight package this morning, at some gawdfoxsaken hour.

Detroit is clumsy and inept at times, but at least they tried until that silly poke from the corner went in off the D-man's skate. After that they pretty much quit and just went through the motions. They need a better goalie but there's talent on that team if they could quit fanning on shots or put a pass on the tape.

I love to see a spear-carrier like Pionk have a night like that. And watching Connor skate full speed back down the ice is fabulous. Vallardi is finally coming into form and even Stanley is playing up to his potential. There's still some guys who are invisible (Iafallo, Apples, even Names last night) but overall the coach has put together and pushed up a really fun team to watch. When your number one defenceman hardly gets a mention during the game, you know you've got a well rounded bunch.

Not to conclude on a negative note, but has anyone seen @Jets 31 ? It's bad enough losing @kanadalainen but surely we haven't seen the last of The Dude?

Congrats to @winnipegger for having the best one-liner of the week.

Can you pull up a single one of my posts where I "bashed" Ehlers? Unless pointing put flaws in his game count as that (you'll note i did the same thing with Connor and Schief earlier in this thread)

If you want, I can pull up some posts from this season where I praise Ehlers (and that whole line). Maybe you missed those

I'd also like to note that having Stanley in over Fleury is a headscratcher based on how the two of them have played this season. That said, you can see that I don't polute every thread with that. It is what it is and I accept it, since I have zero power to change it

Keeping with the Halloween theme....this sure is a spooky thread after a dominating win. Jets are on pace for 73 wins this season and Connor to threaten Selanne with his current 74 goal pace.

On to Columbus, where teams this year seem to be getting tricked and not coming away with many treats. Hope the Jets can change that trend....
