Dunno who Jefferoni is, but he created a monster
It might also have to do with money, if we went full time to the Heritage classic jersey i don't think the current regular jersey would sell very much. Now we all buy both jerseys . Money talks....I'm with you. The Arniel hiring was straight out of the True North handbook. I wasn't inspired by it, but I was willing to give him a chance. Immediately, I was watching what he'd do with personnel, specifically Brad Lauer. If Arniel had brought him back it would have honked of Huddy 2.0
Bones was what the team desperately needed to reset the culture. Even if he'd wanted to stay, I don't think it would have been the right fit long term. In this case, SA already being involved with the organization has paid dividends. Instead of blowing it all up, he's built and improved upon the groundwork RB laid.
The league leading powerplay is evidence of that.
He'll never get everything right, but he's done a swell job so far. He doesn't seem tethered to his ways either, which I like in a coach. If he's behind the bench when the Jets hoist a Cup, it'd be one heck of a redemption arc.
Now to voice a bit of displeasure with True North.
They will never relinquish their branding. An ode to their organization is literally part of the crest. It's one of the issues I have with their ownership. Whether they choose to accept it or not, no matter how much work they did to bring NHL hockey back to Winnipeg, the Jets belong to Winnipegers.
The Jets live and die on the backs of it's blue collar citizens. They are the true lifeblood of the club.
With TN, it's authentication this, ties to Winnipeg that, but they don't respect the fanbase enough to fly the crest and colour's most desire. One could make the argument the old crests and colour's were tied to failure. That a new look redefines this incarnation of the Jets. Yet, is it what most Winnipegers identify with when they think of the Jets? I'd be curious to know for certain.
Personally, I think the 90s crest is what our team should be wearing.
From a spiritual standpoint, the Jets that were stripped from me as a child were wearing that crest. The way I see it, winning a Cup in those uniforms would undo a cosmic wrong. From a design standpoint, they took the 70's crest and perfected it. It's timeless.
However, the 70's crest is linked with success in the WHA, so I understand if people view it as our true identity.
All that said, if Adam Lowry is being passed the Stanley Cup from Overlord Gary, he could be adorned with a Safeway bag for all I care.
the PP has been huge, but they still rate really well in 5v5 GF (5th in totals, 10th in per 60 as differing GP)Powerplay powerplay powerplay.
We changed the coach and added Ehlers and “presto” we are leading the league with a 32.3% conversion rate (insane).
PK is 15th in the league at a 79.2% kill rate which should be a touch better with the best goalie in the league but if you add up the two the numbers (PK + PP) comes to 111.5 which is outstanding. Hitch use to always say you wanted to be over 102 and you’re in a good spot.
As a team we have a shooting % of 12.2 which is second highest in the league with only Washington ahead of us. That was largely leveraged off our early season start where everything we shot went in. Normally we would be about 10%.
Interesting enough Connor is only mildly higher than his normal shooting % so his scoring pace seems sustainable. Schiefele is currently shooting at a torrid and unsustainable 25.5% rate but I will stay his career rate of 17.2% is exceptional, so three cheers for that line.
I *think* that a shot (as used for sh% calculations) has to be on netHere's the problem with those shooting % stats ... correct me if I'm wrong only the shots on goal that the goalie saves are counted along with the goals right?
So If Scheifele goes for the top right corner 5 times ... he misses 3 times and hits the post the 4th time but the 5th time he finally scores. His shooting percentage would be 100% even though he tried 5 times to hit that top right corner ... 1 for 5 is 20%.
Honestly I think majority of today's new stats they keep track of are meaningless.
If so, that's horseshitI heard from someone at the game that the fans were chanting "don't play Stanley" last night at one point at the end of game. Is that true?

Feels like the GF's are being leveraged a bit by about 20% higher than normal shooting accuracy. I am still expecting us to regress on that number a bit. That being said our top guys are very accurate shooters in general, we have been a pretty good "finishing" team for a while now.
I think there is something different that comes out of Ehlers playing with Lowry. Against Colorado the Jets were able to match his speed against Makar's. And that had an effect. Scored the 1st goal.Excellent game. The team is really clicking the past few games.
I quite like the balance of all our lines now. They now can all play the style of game the team wants to play.
Fly brings speed and skill to the Lowry line
Nino brings size, a nose for the net and forecheck to Cole's line. Cole plays better in a cycle and puck possesion type offensive game which is what we are now seeing with him, Nino, and Kupari who are cycling the the hell out of the opposition. Kupari so far isn't looking out of place with the other two. This is a good opportunity for him to win a bigger role.
Top line is on fire, nothing more to say.
Heinola looked pretty good today. I liked the poise and offensive confidence. Stanley was hit and miss.
All other dmen with real strong nights.
Helle with a pretty easy game

Last night the Jets first good chance came from Ehlers, on the breakaway, and I think it's something you may see more now, with Lowry and Iafallo being good defenders, is that Ehlers is able to stretch the ice a little.
Also Lowry is underrated as a skater. That was impressive the way he separated from Hughes on the PK.
Yep ehlers is best when he can have puck. Thats why he doesn’t work with all superstars.Lowry and Iafallo are big guys that don't need the puck on their stick much. It allows Fly to posses it as much as he wants and their size creates space for him to exploit.
Same as how Nino's size creates space for Cole to exploit.

I sat in section 315, 2 seats away from the guy that had too many beers and started the chant. His wife was completely embarrased but it was funny as shit. 3 guys with Hughes jerseys turned around and started complaining how bad Meyers was for them. It was the the cherry on the cakeI heard from someone at the game that the fans were chanting "don't play Stanley" last night at one point at the end of game. Is that true?
