Jets with .700 P% (2nd), +53 goal differential (1st), 109 goals against (3rd) and 162 goals for (1st)

I think it's safe to say now that there's more to this team than Helle

Powerplay powerplay powerplay.

We changed the coach and added Ehlers and “presto” we are leading the league with a 32.3% conversion rate (insane).

PK is 15th in the league at a 79.2% kill rate which should be a touch better with the best goalie in the league but if you add up the two the numbers (PK + PP) comes to 111.5 which is outstanding. Hitch use to always say you wanted to be over 102 and you’re in a good spot.

As a team we have a shooting % of 12.2 which is second highest in the league with only Washington ahead of us. That was largely leveraged off our early season start where everything we shot went in. Normally we would be about 10%.

Interesting enough Connor is only mildly higher than his normal shooting % so his scoring pace seems sustainable. Schiefele is currently shooting at a torrid and unsustainable 25.5% rate but I will stay his career rate of 17.2% is exceptional, so three cheers for that line.

I'm annoyed that Hellebuyck's shutout bid was ruined by that single perfectly placed shot. The Canucks had a bad f***ing night. There are no two ways about it. The only defenseman that seemed to be able to do anything was Quinn Hughes. Their forwards were largely ineffectual. The Jets' top line skated over top of everything they had. Still can't believe this is that Canucks team that shut out the Leafs a few nights ago.

Stanley f***ed up ....... discuss

We are 5th in 5v5 GF and 2nd in 5v5 GF%

Samberg is a game change with this dcore. Interested to see if Fleury coming back will bump Stanley as Fleury can kill penalties or will it force Heinola out.

Thank you Arniel for finally mixing up the bottom 3 lines. We finally look like a 4 line team that can do some damage.

I like the idea of finally admitting Lowry is our 2c so we can give Ehlers the ice time he deserves. They seem to mesh pretty well actually. Let's see how it goes.

It lets us run that third soft scoring line with players who are still finding their game (Perfetti) and others who maybe deserve a bit more of a shot (Kupari).

Scheifele , Conner and Vilardi has to be one of , if not the best lines in the NHL. I am loving seeing it too because Scheifele and to some extent Conner has taken alot of abuse on here. Scheifele and Conner tied for 3rd overall with 26 goals each right now is pretty unreal.

Impressive win from the good guys.

It is impressive how much better the PP has been this year. Feels like our PP was a weak spot for a few years and now it is a massive strength with virtually the same guys plus Ehlers.
Arneil and the coaching has alot to do with this. It's amazing how fun it is watching our PP this season compared to last.

Those are shot % dependent though. Maybe we can expect a bit of regression scoring wise
There's a chicken and egg issue there, though

Are we good because we have a high shooting %, or do we have a high shooting % because we're good?

This team (or at least the top scorers) seems to prefer quality over quantity with regards to shots. In terms of defensive structure, it's the opposite... everything is pushed to the perimeter, forcing low quality shots. In other words, it's almost by design that we often get outshot and win

Remember when that poster wanted to put Connor on the 4th line and use him as a PP specialist like Phil Kessel? Same guy who wanted to use the acquisition of Nate Schmidt to "dump" JoMo

Pretty tough to take anything that someone says seriously after those shit takes

Great game by the Jets, and Connor and the 1st line came out to play. Game never in doubt. Helle deserved the shutout though.

Very small sample size, but I'm liking the "shift" in line makeup between lines 2 and 3. Previously it seemed like we were going with a "skill" second line and a "checking" 3rd, but now it's more of a blend. You've got a skill guy in Ehlers, and Lowry and Iafallo that do the board work and bring some physicality. And then you have Perfetti and Nino (Nino seems like he can work with most, like a Perreault), and for now, Kupari. We'll have to see how that line goes and then possibly if they keep line 2 together, how that line might go with Names.

I'm happy to be wrong about Scott Arniel, even if my reasons for being annoyed at his hiring are valid. I want a coach who is a good coach, not one who is hired because they "have ties to" the market in which they play and coach. I'm just glad Arniel is proving that he is a coach that deserved another chance to be a head coach. Special teams are doing a lot of heavy lifting, but coaching puts them there.

Kupari is just filling in for Barzal once Chevy trades for him. :naughty:

this is the all-around play from KC that people have been clamoring and debating to see for the last several years to really put this team over the top. not all on him b/c his running mate at C also didn't care about defensive play.

this year so far KC is a +10 at 5v5
since 2020 combined: -4
with the line performing better at chances against at 2.4 xGA/60
