Post-Game Talk: Jets 6 - Bruins 2

You might be new around here, he'll prolly get a good look in about 2-3 years.
I'm guessing you are joking about being new considering my post history or by my wife thinking about how much other things I could productively be doing other than talking about hockey  But saying that the Jets have historically liked to identify guys they can call up and plug and play in bottom roles. I think Parker may have now stepped in front of Tomato.

I'm not sure who I would sit if the Jets acquire another forward or two.
I thought Perfetti. Reconsidering.
I thought Gustafsson. Reconsidering.
I thought Kupari. Reconsidering.
I thought Namestnikov. Reconsidering.
Tough call.

I'd go after Jordan Greenway in Buffalo.
6-6. 230.
Hits everything that moves.
Wouldn't he look good throwing his weight around in a game like tonight.
Wouldn't cost much to acquire.

Pretty sure I don’t recall seeing this Ehlers goal type before, as reported by nhl.com.

I hope he gets a chance, but we need chibby as well... now we're asking for the moon!

Check out quotes from the other side
Bruin fans sad and angry

“Jets toyed with their food for a while then went for the throat in the 3rd and killed the game in 5 mins. Efficient. That's a contending team. That is what the Bruins are so obviously not”

“Fitting that its Connor, the one that got away
Chabot ends it in OT. Connor tonight, so is Barzal playing tonight...lol.

Could you imagine potentially having Barzal and Connor (and Chabot) but instead you end up with Zboril, DeBrusk and Senyshyn?

It makes Chevy trading up to draft Stanly look like a "minor oopsie"

So are we past the piss poor analysis that we are actually a bad team? No one who actually knows hockey would consider the Jets a bad or even a fringe team. We are a true on contender so lets get comfortable with that.
And yet the Stanley Cup odds makers have them below many other teams. Not that I mind. I prefer flying under the radar a little.

Shorty pissed off the Jets who answered back with 4 straight goals. Parker Ford 1st game memorable. Bruins with not much of a fight tonight. That's 5 straight
Team is rollin' again

Lovely stuff.

Just returned from our own game.

Watched the 10 min summary.... wow, Ford, Schuffles, Connor, Names, Helly... all stellar!

So cool to see Ford's family providing the love on his top shelf hoe down. :)

Helly is 32-7-2 I believe.

Shenshyn was ranked to go in the third round too if I'm remembering correctly, nobody had any idea who he was when they picked him haha

I like Greenway, if he can stay disciplined.

The Prediction Contest for the game against the Crapitals has been posted for your guesses. I will be posting the next two GDTs, but there are plenty of other games that are available, so join in and have some fun by making your own. See you Saturday! Good night...
I think my favourite part of these PGTs is seeing what nickname you'll come up for the next team we face

I'm a little bit worried about playing helly too much. Hes gonna play in the 4 nations so wont really get rest there and we aren't exactly going to get an easy schedule after the tournament.

Some will say he plays better when he plays a lot, some will say he can't be exhausted for the poffs.. im undecided

Pretty sure I don’t recall seeing this Ehlers goal type before, as reported by nhl.com.
First look at this and I'm like, "hmm, pretty sure Ehlers has scored an unassisted goal before...not that unusual". Looking further, "Ahh, I see it... he poked in a goal"

Looking at the NHL website and they do indeed have a category for "poked" goals. Scheifele and Ehlers each have one (not sure if Ehlers is from tonight or if he now has 2). McDavid, M.Tkachuk and Tyson Foerster lead the NHL with 2 a piece.

They also have a category for "Cradle" goals, I am assuming they mean a Michigan goal, but not sure.

This team will be measured by what they do or don't do in the playoffs, hard to imagine that this team is better than last years 110 point team but they are and need to prove it in the post season.
I have this feeling the days of Helly being anything close to sub par in the playoffs are over. This is the year he’ll deliver.

It was mind boggling, even at the time. And Stanley was actually a relatively good pick in that spot
Stanley was a reach, but I think that Chevy and co already had their big fish with Laine and decided to take a big swing and try to knock one out of the park for a Chara 2.0

Seems like more of a blooper base hit, but nobody who ranked around there made a big impact either

It has been interesting how Scheifele and Connor have been pushing each other up the goal scoring race. At this point they will easily both push past 40. Can you imagine them both pushing for 50 in the same season. That would make for a lot of fun.
Has that been done in the last 20 yrs? 2 50 goal scorers?

Odds makers don’t care about a team’s actual chance of winning but rather evening out the betting action. The Jets are a good bet as they have a relatively small base so they will be under bet compared to a lot of bigger market teams that get over bet.

But will it be a glorified all star game instead of working hard?
