I agree stay in the net. Let the puck hit posts crossbars but protect that small area behind you and don't budge. Helly you do lots of things well. Not that. Let your d work harder and come back for the puck. No one will blame you for that. No one expects you to catch other team off guard. Just don't try to play puck unless making a save.
