Anybody watching the Vegas game?
For those questioning Helle's play ... the 2 goals on Gustavsson perfect shot top corner.
The PPG Vegas scored on Gustavsson ...he was right at the top of the crease and guest what?
He was screened ... a quick pass to the right and Dorofeyev had an empty net to shoot at.
I get a kick of people questioning Hellebuyck on how or where he should be in the crease ... how many Vezina trophies have the critics won?

Interesting facts with Vegas
Their strength is their big defense and 4 solid lines probably the best in the league thats probably why they lead the league with third period goals ... they wear down their opponents rolling out 4 lines.
But here is where it gets interesting in order to roll out 4 lines evenly ... you can't take penalties.
Vegas broken 2 records this year ... the least amount of penalties and the least amount of pp.

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

All jokes aside, this sort of instance is exactly why they had to keep KFC in that final. Selfishly, as a Canadian, I'm happy with how it played out; but, with Connor, even if he didn't have the best tournament, he's the type of guy where it's one good look and he can make you pay.

His release is so quick and smooth. He's just a pure natural goal scorer, through and through.

I'm happy he's on our squad. Put it that way.
Mike Sullivan got so blinded, trying to beat Canada physically in a back alley style game that he not only dressed an inferior player (KREIDER) but also allowed Matthew Tkachuk’s selfishness with regards to his own injury play when he was nowhere near 100% and he barely touched the ice that whole game.

Big brain USA hockey thinking right there.

Helle is considered the best goalie on the planet

The reason for that is because he can stop shots that a guy like Gustavsson can't

It's like McDavid missing three breakaways in one game and then someone posting highlights of Kupari also missing on three breakaways, and then making some kind of claim of equivalence?

THE major reason we finished 1OA in the league was because Helle is capable of stopping the shots he let in yesterday

Does Stanley make a few mistakes sure he does, but Schenn wasn't Mr. Consistent last night and Samberg was flat out terrible. Stanley as much as some want it is not coming out of the lineup.
Samberg is likely playing on a very banged up leg.
Stanley doesn't have that excuse.
At the end of the day for me it's more about who fits the best and compliments each other the best.
Fleury has his own issues but he is a good skater and has speed.
2 super slow D-men together doesn't really give us the best chance to defend.
Fleury was trusted with a much higher role when Samberg was down.
Schenn brings the physicality that the staff hopes Stanley has.
The stats said big Stan only had one hit last game.
Not exactly bringing the heat for the playoffs with that.

Miller seems better suited to read the plays and make less mistakes than Stanley and he has a killer shot.
If Stanley is in so be it.
But it doesn't seem to be the best fit for the d-core.

The Jets didn't even really try Fleury-Schenn in the regular season so I wouldn't expect them to test that pair together in the playoffs.

Fleury seems like one of those guys you can see what coaches and scouts like about them but somehow just haven't put it together.
It was Fleury Schenn to start.
That was the pair until Pionk got hurt.

Helle plays the percentages if you want to beat him you have to take away his eyes or make a perfect shot.
The critics were pointing out that the one of the goal scored on Helle he was too far back in the crease. I just pointed out a goal where a goalie was at the top of the crease and it was an easy goal where as Helle stayed back in the crease and the shot had to be perfect to beat him.
The right play was Helle staying back in the crease and yes he was scored on but it was a perfect shot that beat him.

Sweet! Love that the grease is waiting for the rebound.

I'm sorry but the way Samberg played in game 1 had nothing to do with his body and all between his ears.

He'll be better and he's going to need to be.

He had issues but I definitely saw him bail on some turns where clearly his leg wasn't cooperating.
I'm sure he's playing through significant pain and that affects your play, decision making etc...
And he's earned a lot of leeway through his play to date.

But also less leeway. Stanley or whoever we replace him with can suck there is no pressure, in order to win we need berg to play to level we have come to expect.

Schief could be argued earned leeway to have bad games. If schief has bad games we lose.
