He said that he doesn't comment on injuries. Then was asked about the hit and he said Schenn left his feet and targeted straight to the ... uuuhhh.... a very unprotected area". Clearly he was about to say head.
The weird thing is that Schenn doesn't contact the head, and the head doesn't hit the ice - kind of hits the boards, but not hard

There's always internal coup-contrecoup though

"Jets having team meeting on handing out the "A" to Appelton"....boys.....it's happening!!!!

Seriously check out this 3 game suspension Schenn got for hitting Oshie its a joke compared to the Scheifele hit. Oshie never even hit the ice ... Schenn actually fell down from the hit. Schenn was also suspended for a similar hit on Anton Volchenkov in 2013. Repeat offended leaving his feet. Fuk the NHL

Biggest problem the DOPS has... is it is ex-thugs who are responsible for making these decisions. Because they have ex-players instead of an unbiased third party that could interpret the rules as they are written, the DOPS has one thing they use to interpret punishment that is not written into their mandate... and that is the past experiences the ex-player had in the league when they were playing.

IE: A player during the regular season will receive a longer suspension or will actually get a reprimand of some kind, yet in the playoffs, the exact same situation results in a shorter penalty or no reprimand, because according to the DOPS... "It's playoff hockey" . I'm sorry, but the rule book is not written to have a difference between the regular season and the playoffs, yet that is exactly how the DOPS and the NHL operates.
There used to be regular bench-clearing brawls until the league put in automatic suspensions and fines.

The league rules give an automatic 10 game suspension for the first player to leave the bench, and a $10,000 fine. Subsequent players get 5 games each and a $5000 fine. So nobody does it.

They could clean up the league if they wanted to.

Appleton has to be the clumsiest superhero I have ever seen. He has two assists on empty net goals. He got one assist by getting sticked in the face, and then in a moment of confusion kicking the puck out for a beauty. He got his other by putting a pass behind Connor that forced a pass into a goal. If he were fictional he might be a Monty Python character. I generally cringe when he plays the puck, I'm not sure how he does it, but glad he's on our side.

I see Pronger on X chirping that's playoff hockey keep your head up and Schenn never left his feet.
Here is the smoking gun 100% proof in slow motion he left his feet before the hit.

This is the problem with all the meathead players, analysts, DOPS, and fans.... they don't seem to understand that brain injuries and CTE don't care if it's the playoffs. It's not about being tough and keeping your head up. High hits targeting the head have to stop, no excuses. That crap can destroy a persons life later on... How about we just properly punish players for dangerous hits without all the macho, meathead BS... Brain injuries are serious, no?

They had to start doing that in the NFL and CFL because QB's were getting hits to the head and getting concussions . I think with the speed of hockey it's even more likely to happen. I hope we win tomorrow and send them golfing the dirty bastards.

No shit. The fact they put tough guys in this role and not impartial people is ridiculous.

Just the jarring of the body can make the brain move and hit the interior skull. At least that's what I've been told by neurologists .

this would be the perfect (upcoming game 6) game for helly to atone for his play and shut the door and steal this game from the blues...........

When BS happens to our star players like Scheifele, Lowry or Schenn or Stanley, should go up to them and punch them in the face 2 or 3 times - like Dave Schultz used to do for Clarke of the Flyers, and Semenko did for Gretzky, and Clarke Gillies did for Goring, and their smaller players.

We cannot afford to be intimidated like this, and we have tougher guys like Lowry, that can get mean if they have too - and “he does” have too.

This could cost us the series, and next target is Morrissey. We can’t afford to let this happen.

And that’s why morons like Pronger need to be kept as far away from the game as possible. Just because you played the game a certain way in the past does not make it right anymore.

As far as Schenn leaving his feet, there are only two options… you watched the video and saw what everyone else saw or you didn’t watch the video and you are just a dumbass saying he didn’t leave his feet.

You'd think that given his career was ended by concussion he'd be a bit smarter.
