I don't mind that either. I think Miller has potential for a big game, more than Fleury. It's Stanley on the road that makes me nervous, he's protected at home, unprotected how much can you play him. It's also the special teams that you wonder about. Jets only had to kill one penalty at home. I get the feeling there will be more penalties in St. Louis and not in the Jets favour. Does Stan get some PK reps in this series? For me J Mo looks banged up already. He's played an avg. of 3 seconds more than Samberg this series, and the better d-pairing has been Samberg-Pionk so far.

Agree.

Miller has warts also but brings a bit more vet savvy to the role and can shoot and is maybe a bit cooler under pressure than Stan, so hopefully fewer icings etc.

Fleury, Miller, Stan, Schenn -- it's pick your poison on the 3rd pairing, but they can't play Samberg and JMo for 40 mins a game.

Expecting game 6 to be a Team D approach, ideally with a Helle return to regular season form, whilst counting on KFC, Gabe, or even Playmaker Pomme to sneak one.

They seem inclined to keep players on their natural side. I take Miller over Schenn or the other 2 at this point. I think Miller and Stan as a combo have had better results than Miller Fleury.

Following the who plays on what line train.
I disagree with the earlier idea of this topic (Gus to line 2 to keep the bottom 6 together).
[I'm replying to the whole conversation not just you]
Moving the guy who is your first choice to scratch to the 2nd line to keep your 4th line together... doesn't make sense.

I do like the concept of Lowry staying in his role with Nino and Mason but I think that line has less of an impact on the road without last change.
So I think they will start with Lowry on line 2.
Barron on 3
and Gus on 4

I'm assuming Kupari is far from an option.

It feels like a lot of things would have to go right for us to win in St Louis and that some things did go wrong for them.
Even if that happens I think we would have a chance (with or without Scheifele) in Game 7 back in Winnipeg.
Both teams have struggled to be close to their best on the road.

I said yesterday all we needed was a 2 game winning streak to close out the series.
How many times this year did we have that?
A lot...
I credit your game day thread for the 5 goal game.

I agree with you, you have to keep Lowry in the top 6 now, with Scheif out. Barron has been a revelation this series, imagine if he played like that against Colorado last year. Would have been a closer series I think. But with those 2 centers in the 2-3 spots, gives Montgomery a tougher choice on matchups.

St. Louis is hurting too on the other side. Thomas is apparently in rough shape. I think some of their d-men are banged up. Kyrou hasn't been the same since the Stanley hit.

St. Louis's 4th line has been good. But so has the Jets, especially when Barron is centering it.

I predicted a 7 game series at the beginning. I think it is a homer series where the matchups and crowds create momentum. Best series of the playoffs so far.

I'm hoping that Scheifele's injury is the rallying point for this team. That they use that to their advantage dig a little deeper to win without him.

I think Scheifele going down is a blessing in disguise, coupled with Hellebuyck not playing very well. Ideally, you never want that to happen, but it presents an opportunity for everyone else to step up.

We have eight players who hit double digits in goals this year, outside of our top four forwards who all eclipsed the 20-goal mark. Our depth, particularly in our 3rd and 4th lines, requires them to step up and not rely solely on our #1 center and goalie for support.

You could see it last night, and to be honest, I thought we were also seeing that through the better part of two periods in Game 5. Just waiting around for your #1 center to carry you is a recipe for losing four straight games all those years in a row. It's not exactly synergistic.

There's also a lot of urgency, like they're not relying on Hellebuyck, in fact, like they (currently) don't trust him, and they're playing like they don't even want the other team to get a shot on net.

As long as Scheifele isn't out for too long, I feel better about the team in future rounds today, than I did going into the playoffs.

I'm still mad about that suspension. Although even among Jets fans there was some disagreement on how bad (or not) that hit was. To me it was a hockey play 100%.

What I'm not sure about is whether the league is actually biased or just incompetent
when it comes to penalties and supplemental discipline. Hats off to Arniel for ripping into the refs yesterday. Maurice was always good for that too.

The Department of Player Safety can kiss it. The NHL and their Mindless Department of Echo Chamber mediocrity may take top prize for the most inert and scenescent collective brains on the planet, plumbing the barren and blasted nadir of novel thinking, with the blinding speed of a nudibranch stuck in a Lake Winnipeg thermocline.

I was just going to post the same thing, word for word!

Biased.

1. Bettman has admitted he was hired to "Grow the Game in the US"
2. Canadian teams won something like 65% of cups in the NHL era before Bettman and 0 since
3. Refs , the BOG, and the NHLPA have all admitted refs "Manage games" with who and where and how they make calls
4. the NHL is an entertainment organization so they cannot be sued or charged for managing game outcomes
5. Refs in other major leagues have been caught points shaving ...I find it hard to believe that only one guy in one league could possibly be corrupt and the 5rest pure as driven snow.
6. the constant and continuous level of one sided calls across pretty much every single series.

Between the sports books, the illegal gambling/organized crime influences, the mandate to help American teams above all other responsibilities and the on ice evidence....
I find it hard to believe the refs are at all calling an honest game.

That would be my lineup.
"nabby12 said:
Connor Vlad Vilardi
Iafallo Barron Perfetti
Nino Lowry Appleton
Tanev Kupari Anderson-Dolan"

I'd only play Kupari

If he's truly up to speed.
He's missed a lot of hockey at the end of the year and Gus has been pretty solid.
You can rely on him defensively and he even had a 4 or 5 game point streak earlier in the season when he first got into the lineup.

I got a chuckle but am wondering where you got your degree.:)

There is no basis for this speculation at all. I listened to what he said. It was basically “no comment right now”
He said that he doesn't comment on injuries. Then was asked about the hit and he said Schenn left his feet and targeted straight to the ... uuuhhh.... a very unprotected area". Clearly he was about to say head.

Well the Scheif injury is pretty bad news, considering we usually struggle to score without him
Hope we can lock down on defence and win this one to give him a few days to rest up

Thats a sad fecker of an aircraft. Maybe in his wanton boyish idiot exuberance, Brayden Schenn lept off his feet and crosschecked the turbofans?
New Pacific has a fleet of three 30-year-old Boeing 757s. One of them was the Kamala Harris presidential campaign plane. This is probably one of the other two. I guess they either need to get it fixed up here or bring in one of their other planes. Keep an eye out for this one coming to the rescue:

You know I was wondering why the bus dropped the team back off at the Delta at lunch. Well this explains it lol.

Biggest problem the DOPS has... is it is ex-thugs who are responsible for making these decisions. Because they have ex-players instead of an unbiased third party that could interpret the rules as they are written, the DOPS has one thing they use to interpret punishment that is not written into their mandate... and that is the past experiences the ex-player had in the league when they were playing.

IE: A player during the regular season will receive a longer suspension or will actually get a reprimand of some kind, yet in the playoffs, the exact same situation results in a shorter penalty or no reprimand, because according to the DOPS... "It's playoff hockey" . I'm sorry, but the rule book is not written to have a difference between the regular season and the playoffs, yet that is exactly how the DOPS and the NHL operates.
