I usually don't listen to the other teams podcast's but I went into one this morning and came across this show called SPORTS HUB STL hosted by Randy Karraker and Brooke Grimsley....thank god we have WST and K & R and Illegal Curve

I think Scheif being day to day is key, my money is on concussion.

I wonder about putting Gus in the top 6 with Perfetti, the third and 4th lines were lights out last night and Gus + Perfetti have always had awesome chemistry.

Connor - Vlad - Vilardi
Perfetti - Gus - Iafallo
Nino - Lowry - Appleton
Tanev - Barron - JAD
It's gotta be Barron that gets bumped up. He has earned it. Barron 2nd, Gus 4th IMO. Iafallo and Barron are familiar playing with one another.

Linesman botched it imo.
No kidding even Garrett during the telecast last game mentioned why is faceoff in the Jets DZ when it was the Blues player that shot the puck outside the blueline. There were a couple of more questionable faceoffs too.
I know it sounds like I'm bias with the officiating but how many calls can go against you in every playoff game.
Why are the rules different for certain teams?
5 Games 10 different refs
Brenk/Sutherland
Nicholson/St.Laurent
Rehman/Hanson
Rooney/McIsaac
Skilliter/Charron
And it's weird ... Jets were on the short end of the officiating in all 5 games.
You would figure at least one game the Jets would get the benefit of the calls but no the Blues got away with a lot of border line calls in every game. It's like the refs were told to watch out for one team only.
I can give a ton of examples but what is strange where is the media on this?
Only John Garrett has mentioned it in a couple of games.
The media is too busy blaming Helle for the Jets woes right.
Kucherov last 15 playoff games ZERO goals ... I don't see any stories on that. .

He left the net front open to double team the Blues player on the wall. That's really all I can think of. But I think he was only one small part of a number of different breakdowns on that play. I think the team let up on focus a bit up by 3 with around a minute left.

No big deal about that goal imo.

Schenn needs to sit though as there is no way to shelter that pairing in St.Louis.
I thought Schenn made a nice shot block, when Samberg got his pocket picked in the d-zone.

I'd probably put Fleury back in. So the Jets don't have to shelter Stanley so much, and keeps the special teams in order, without putting J Mo on the PK, where he could be exposed to even more hits.

Add him and Kupari and the Jets have a legit shot at outskating the Blues, which has been a key in this series.

Loved how Namestnikov played in Scheifele's absence, not a easy thing to do to jump up to the number 1 center role.Just showed the Jets depth this season which is very good.
There's the problem Names is not a 2C ... he is a !C.
Seriously he did a great job and who knows he could be the X factor in game 6 for the Jets. Scheifele can't be replaced but that top line with Names looked in sync and gave the Blues problems.

schenn turned the puck over alot more than Stanley. Would rather see Stan and Miller than Schenn and Fleury.
Whoever goes in for Stan will get extremely sheltered because they like Samberg and Mo playing big minutes and Miller has been better than Shenn.

Vlad is very hot and cold, when hes hot hes great but when hes cold he kinda kills a lot of momentum and energy. So hopefully his night last night and the possible elevation of his role in 55's absence gets him going. Happy Nino got one too, he had a good game.
I'm a big fan of Nino, but he needed a big game. He hadn't done much up until now. I was pumped too.

Jumping back to Scheif, I've seen in the past the Jets elevate when a key player is out. I forget when exactly, but I distinctly remember noticing it. It's like everyone, especially our secondary scoring guys know they have to step up to fill the void. And somehow that responsibility brings out that extra mystical 10% of hockey players who give it 110% on the ice. Hope we see that tomorrow.

I don't mind that either. I think Miller has potential for a big game, more than Fleury. It's Stanley on the road that makes me nervous, he's protected at home, unprotected how much can you play him. It's also the special teams that you wonder about. Jets only had to kill one penalty at home. I get the feeling there will be more penalties in St. Louis and not in the Jets favour. Does Stan get some PK reps in this series? For me J Mo looks banged up already. He's played an avg. of 3 seconds more than Samberg this series, and the better d-pairing has been Samberg-Pionk so far.

You know the biggest joke to me is Scheifele gets suspended for 4 playoff games for a first offense, let me repeat that Scheifele gets suspended for 4 PLAYOFF GAMES FOR A FIRST OFFENSE and Schenn is getting f*** all ??? Schenn has been suspended before but he gets absolutely nothing. I'm sorry you can't tell me that Winnipeg isn't playing with one hand tied behind their backs because the NHL wants nothing to do with Winnipeg actually ever getting to a Cup final. Ratings would be horrible for them .

But, still a promotion for Barron as he still gets bumped up to the third.
Following the who plays on what line train.
I disagree with the earlier idea of this topic (Gus to line 2 to keep the bottom 6 together).
[I'm replying to the whole conversation not just you]
Moving the guy who is your first choice to scratch to the 2nd line to keep your 4th line together... doesn't make sense.

I do like the concept of Lowry staying in his role with Nino and Mason but I think that line has less of an impact on the road without last change.
So I think they will start with Lowry on line 2.
Barron on 3
and Gus on 4

I'm assuming Kupari is far from an option.

It feels like a lot of things would have to go right for us to win in St Louis and that some things did go wrong for them.
Even if that happens I think we would have a chance (with or without Scheifele) in Game 7 back in Winnipeg.
Both teams have struggled to be close to their best on the road.

I said yesterday all we needed was a 2 game winning streak to close out the series.
How many times this year did we have that?
A lot...

I don't know how much you can play Stan, but, Fleury also did not look good in St.Louis. They don't want to play any D on his offside. Miller and Stan have been good together. I think you put Miler on the Pk. I also just want Stan to take off Kyrou or Thomas head and play 4 minutes in the game.

That's because of the direct aftermath of both hits, had Scheifs gone off right after that hit injured it would be a different story, because he didn't in DOPS mind it's fine even though it was definitely that hit that caused the problem ( guessing most likely concussion related)

The DOPS is a f***ing joke man as is this piece of shit league, they don't care about player safety despite the name, I mean they have a former goon running the entire thing, that's like giving the head of internal affairs job to a corrupt detective.

Glad you said it. It's the only reason why teams can target Scheifele without impunity. League doesn't want us to win. Scheifele said it. But that underdog mentality can give you an edge.

I'm still mad about that suspension. Although even among Jets fans there was some disagreement on how bad (or not) that hit was. To me it was a hockey play 100%.

What I'm not sure about is whether the league is actually biased or just incompetent when it comes to penalties and supplemental discipline. Hats off to Arniel for ripping into the refs yesterday. Maurice was always good for that too.
