5/5 Vonneguts for this one. Dostoevsky left for Vancouver about a week ago.

Is there any reason why this team can't do aome serious damage in the playoffs?

They play like a team with improving defensive and special teams play.

We have a vezina caliber goalie playing at the top of his game.

A Norris caliber dmen

We have a physical beast of a 1C in Dubois who has to be in around the top 10C range this year.

We have Scheifele playing a strong two-way game at a 10-15 center range.

Throw in some star wingers in Conner and Ehlers and some other good top 6 ones in Fetts and Blake and we have a lethal top 6.

Lowry seems to be playing at a high end number 3 C level this year as well.

Really if we get some good players to shore up our bottom 6 we can do some damage imo.

This is easily a playoff team and quite possibly a contending team if we make some key additions.

What additions would you make?

we also should have a crap ton of deadline capspace that could make it easier to add players

13 games left in January with many of them winnable games though the jets have a tendency at times to play down to their opponents. 10 wins the rest of the month would go down like a smooth glass of the finest whiskey.

They definitely need another scoring forward. Both to improve scoring depth and as injury insurance, I never want to be in a situation where we are 1 injury away from Kuhlman/Appleton/AJF in the top-6.

It looks like that’s what we have Gagner for. Also, I’m sure Barron can play up and be the new Copp. Also aren’t we one of the top scoring teams getting so many goals from our d-Corp. I thought Appleton looks good in top 6 in beginning of season. Kuhlman AJF is just there for ok and it’s working as we have a top pk.

It's funny. The Hockey News put out an article about how if the Jets hope to retain PLD, they're going to have to open up their pocketbook. It's never been about the money, though. I have no doubt that the Jets would open their bank account to keep him, within reason. He has to want to re-sign here for term. That will be the storyline heading into the summer.
If Montreal wins the lottery thing will be interesting.

I suspect we see $10 million x 8 type deal.

Not too often you get two 5 on 3's in one night. The Jets won the special teams battle tonight. Both ends.

Not the best start, or the cleanest game, or the easiest opponent, but beating the 3 time Eastern Conference Champion has to feel good for the coaches and the team, as a measuring stick.

Little bit of nastiness out there, doesn't look like anyone got too badly hurt. I think Scheifele actually enjoyed getting in a tilt for a change. Definitely a different dynamic on the ice with a higher skill level on our side.

Friday night games in Winnipeg are usually good ones, no disappointment tonight. Really liked the way the team closed it out.

Gutsy win -
Couple of guys with significant rust but the team got it done through hard work and discipline - The Bones message is getting through and appears to be embedded.
Once the top 6 are back in top shape (and catch up on their timing with one another), we look pretty solid.
I like the lineup top to bottom - Stay healthy and keep winning.

Once again, I nodded off somewhere during the second period but was awake for the goal by KFC. From what I saw of the game, I would give the Jets four sleepy heads out of five tonight...

The team started off slow but they never gave up. As others have said, including Kevin Sawyer (cough cough), this is a totally different looking team than last year. It looks like they care and are having fun out there, just look at Scheifele in the penalty box. You can't tell me that's the same person from last year...

The Prediction Contest for the game against Vancouver has been posted and the race for first place is very close. Don't forget to sign up for a GDT, just like @flyingkiwi who will be posting one for the Canucks game. We all look forward to seeing it...
