Just woof. Team needs Samberg and Ehlers back, because their quality of play hit a significant downturn without them.

I think they'll help, but this is something all 18 skaters will have to figure out.

If one second line forward and one second pair D have the Jets go from nearly undefeated to sub 500 we have much bigger problems.

I thought Chibrikov Laddy and Smurfetti really stated to gel, really too bad chibby got hurt.

Okay. They've played .500 hockey league since the 15-1 run.

And check the other top teams in the league. I guess they haven't struggled at points?

We outplayed them 5v5...much better chances. They.had a weak 2nd goal and a poor defensive gaff for their third.

Fortunately, KFC not only giveth, but he taketh away.


Stanley was atrocious.

I think what's happening is people are hyper fixated on a few Stanley mistakes. I thought he had couple of oof moments but was fine otherwise.

Barron on the other hand. He's gotta take a seat. All he does is fall down. He needs to sit down and watch tape of Chibrikov. Outside of the skill gap what's impressed me about chibby is his battle level and willingness to get his nose dirty.

For those saying the Jets didn’t deserve the 2 points … really?
I missed the first 6 mins but the 54 mins I watched … I didn’t think the Sharks dominated.
There was more scrambles in front of the Sharks net than in front of Helle. Sharks were getting away with crap in front of the net which was the only reason why the Jets could not score.
CVS dominated the game … yes the go ahead goal was scored on them but Pionk pinched and lost. Helle cheated and was expecting a pass … nice shot 3-2 Sharks.
Did the Sharks even touch the puck after they finally got another penalty?
I will be a lot happier and less worried once Samberg gets back … I won’t mention the weakest link on the Jets

It drives me nuts when people blame the d for that play. Pionk did exactly what the system dictates, and Connor, though originally supporting him, decided to stay in instead of anticipating a lost puck battle.

I have a new (recycled) moniker for KFC. "The Ordinary Superstar". There was a player with than nickname in the 70's I believe by the name of Johnny Rodgers who played in the CFL. Seems like e a good tag for a guy that doesn't get the love from TSN or Sportsnet who focus on all the teams in Canada EXCEPT the Jets.

I was watching the NHL network yesterday and they had an interview with Dylan Guenther who is one of the top young players in the game right now. He brought up Kyle Connor as the one player in the NHL he tries to emulate most. I think his peers know how good he is, it's just the national media who are sleeping on him. If he was on the Leafs or Habs he'd be a much bigger star. He's also had a lot of haters within the Jets fanbase for a long time but they've mostly shut up now.

Great game by the first line guys again. Their line isn't necessarily where we may need them to be 5v5 if they are gping to mqtch up with the best of the best in the spring. But they are improving from last year and beginning of this year so overall I think that's encouraging.

its not just a few bad moments. He is really dragging things down in transition

Basically half as successful exiting the zone as most of our defense

Yeah I'm not sure either.

We are 14-3 vs non-playoff teams. Not sure that's 100% accurate but that's what Sean Reynolds said on Kenny and Renny last night. That would leave us 9-6-1 against playoff teams I believe.

I'm not sure we need to be extremely worried, but I could see why it would be cause for some concern. Not sure how similar that is to other teams either.

Yeah, this is a pretty good post to help get everyone, including myself, a bit more relaxed. Although, I'll be honest, if they lose tonight, then yeah, I'll go right back to being f***ing pissed off. I don't think I can stay up to watch the game, though. I'll have to see if I wake up angry or wake up pleased.

For people complaining that we "only" won 4-3... in the past two weeks, SJS have beaten Washington and "only" lost 3-1 to Florida and 3-2 to Carolina

Aside from an 8-1 blowout loss to TBL, almost all their losses in the past month or so are by a goal or two

So in other words, this isn't a team that gets wrecked night in and night out

I think the Sharks are going to be a pretty good team in short order. Are they deliberately tanking this year? I mean, who goes out and trades for Georgiev? When Georgiev-Vanecek are your tandem, losing by just a goal or two is basically winning...

I can understand the people concerned and pointing out that Jets have been playing .500 hockey since their 15-1 start, but a win's a win and I love me some clutch Lurch with the game winner. Win's a win, I'm happy, on to the next one.

I was wondering why they had Helle in net, then realized it's first of a B2B so then it made sense. In the end probably turned out well that he was the choice tonight. Sharks looked like they're better than their record to me, played the Jets tough. Everyone is bringing their A game against the top team in the league, I didn't think the Jets lacked intensity.

@Stumbledore was wondering in last game's post-game thread about lack of posters/posting this year ... personally I've just been extremely busy this year and the weeks are just FLYING by. I blink and another week has passed and I missed several Jets games and opportunities to post. Doesn't help that for some reason a beauty post I wrote in the GDT just up and disappeared before I could submit (some popup on HFBoards made Norton Antivirus have a minor hissy fit).

I generally don't throw flowers for players on the other team but this Celebrini kid is going to be a great player. Job number 1 for the Sharks is find more pieces as soon as they can, they are a ways away from making the playoffs.

yeah the one thing i remind myself sometimes is these 18-year old 1st overalls are going to absolute dog shit teams with probably a terrible defense group & a journeyman or nobody in net. same applies w/ bedard in CHI, it'll take time. this isn't the NFL where there's quick turnarounds.

I blink and another week has passed and I missed several Jets games and opportunities to post. Doesn't help that for some reason a beauty post I wrote in the GDT just up and disappeared before I could submit (some popup on HFBoards made Norton Antivirus have a minor hissy fit).

I totally agree. I'm posting far less this season - and also missing more games -- for the excellent reason that I now have a full-time job, more than full since it often takes 50-60 hours a week. Deadlines are flying at work (all grades have to be filed by today, for example) and the flight I'm planning to take in the distant future is suddenly tomorrow and I'm still deciding what to pack.

Last night's game was worth staying up for, at least the last 10 minutes. The penalty called on us with about 6 minutes left was ludicrous, game management at its worst. But we still triumphed and that's the biggest difference between this team and previous years' squads.

I was fascinated by many of the Jets' moms. Some of them are not what I expected at all. It was a lot of fun to see the interviews with how warmly they interact with each other. I'm hoping there's more of these featured in tonight's game. And I'm hoping to be all packed before tonight's puck drop!

Can only hope that we see Fleury-Miller when Samberg is back... but sure seems like Stan is a lock for the season

Not expecting a blowout but more even play at 5 on 5 would be nice. They could not generate much and won because of the powerplay, which is not a sustainable way to win over the long run but they found a way to win which is positive

Going to highlight another strong game from Perfetti. Glad he got an assist on the PP or some would point to his points and try and say he's not playing well. I see him consistently get in on the forecheck and he's causing turnovers and winning puck battles. The main thing as well is with his vision and puck skills, he's creating a lot of opportunities.

Celebrini is insane.

The kid is going to be one of the top players in the league for the next 20 years. His offensive play is great but it’s his defensive play that really impresses me. He is way beyond what is expected of an 18yr old in that regard. He reminds me a lot of Steve Yzerman in the way he can play both sides of the ice.

The D gets the credit when they pinch in and the team score and when they don’t and the other team scores the D gets the blame.
Please tell me how Connor gets the blame when he is the closest guy to the puck carrier?
The person who should get the blame is the ref … it’s called interference. Seriously the shark player is taken Pionk out of the play by hitting him into the boards when he doesn’t have the puck.
