Very questionable officiating indeed. The first line had a good game, pp was on point with 2 but you are right lines 4 and 2 were issues. Lowry had a monster last 7 minutes to seal the deal

Such a wild run and gun style game that was a bit of a wobbly effort at times, but there were some definite highs and lows.

Our power play was a dizzying high because...wow, was it impressive tonight. Our defensive play was a real low. Hellebuyck was pretty average too but he has earned all the slack in the world as far as I am concerned.

The Sharks were no pushover so they deserve some credit here.

It's not that I'm disappointed in Stanley, because I think we all know what he brings by now, I'm just so confused of why he's still here. This was another night where he made several dreadful, lazy plays, the likes of which any other player would be heavily criticized and probably benched for.

I just don't get it.

On to Disneyland with the Mom's.

Agreed Sharks are better than their record and/or match up well against the Jets but it is perplexing that Stanley has become a fixture given as you said his lazy play which I say is not lazy but he is just slower than 99.9 percent of the other players.

For people complaining that we "only" won 4-3... in the past two weeks, SJS have beaten Washington and "only" lost 3-1 to Florida and 3-2 to Carolina

Aside from an 8-1 blowout loss to TBL, almost all their losses in the past month or so are by a goal or two

So in other words, this isn't a team that gets wrecked night in and night out

Check your expectations

I have a new (recycled) moniker for KFC. "The Ordinary Superstar". There was a player with than nickname in the 70's I believe by the name of Johnny Rodgers who played in the CFL. Seems like e a good tag for a guy that doesn't get the love from TSN or Sportsnet who focus on all the teams in Canada EXCEPT the Jets.

Watched this game on the PVR early this morning.

They did not play a complete game, however, a win is a win.

Keep it going!

Yeah good points. I think how we do in the big matchups in the regular season means a lot more than how consistently you pump the bottom feeders.

Man it would be tough being a fan when you have to have a 10-0 win every single game to be remotely happy. To me any win especially on the road is a very good thing. 23-9-1 is a great record, checks standings , oh that's 1st overall in the NHL, shity should be better.
Don’t kid yourself. Some would still find something to be unhappy about and if things got too good they would just tune out as their real enjoyment is having something to be upset about.

I was wondering if there was any data on the correlation between goal differential vs lottery teams and playoff success

I'm legitimately curious

One thing has become clear is we can end the debate from past years on who was to blame for the PP the players or the coaches? Change the coaching to find different ways to get players moving and opening up space a guess what a dynamic PP with the same players.

I went to bed after the 2nd period, but before I fell asleep I checked the score and it was 3-2 Sharks.

Nice surprise to wake up to. I was expecting to see an empty netter making it a 4-2 Sharks final.

A good team loses to a bottom feeder pretty well every night, the Capitals found this out last night the Jets did not.
Even "bad" teams are good. At the end of the day, it's not like the 32nd place team in the league is the U18 A1 Selkirk Fishermen

There are roughly 750 players in the NHL. Even the "bad" ones are good. The difference between the worst player in the NHL and the best player isn't as wide as you'd think, relatively speaking (generational talent notwithstanding). These guys are the best hockey players on the planet

I've skated with plenty of NHLers who had very mediocre careers and they've all been very good

No kidding! Vilardi looked right at the ref 10 ft away like WTH. That wasn’t long before the DeMelo skate on skate with Celibrini penalty.

It was in the Ottawa game as Stutzle got called for one, even made fun of the call as he went to the box. Reffing in the NHL has to become more consistent

It might get better if they had to do a interview after the game. Right now they can just skate of the ice after games giggling if they want.Just checked and the wage scale for a NHL official is 165,000 to 360,000 US . That's really good money, for that amount they should have to answer some questions after games.

Totally agree, even with Ehlers off Perfetti steps in and it doesn't skip a beat.

Lowry's 9th Even strength goal last night (4th game winner) ties him for 3rd on the team in even strength goals with Nino. 1 back of KC who sits second. Not bad for a guy with 'stone hands'. 'AHL' Appleton has 6. The top line has combined for 31 even strength goals. The shutdown line has 24.
