Or maybe they see a need for a big dman on the blueline and they are working hard to try to make that happen. The only reason I'm in the "anti-Stan" club is because he's been given so much rope to prove his ceiling, but Heinola has never gotten that same rope despite having the higher ceiling. It feels like the organization is constantly trying to validate that one draft pick to the exclusion of all else. It's frustrating to watch.
I agree that Chevy is not at all the type to put ego over performance. So, what could be other reasons for him seemingly sticking with Stanley when it seems to many (but not all) here like a bad idea with significant lost opportunities for the team?I actually think that's a bullshit argument. Chevy has made mistakes but I don't think he's ever put ego over team performance.
I think that Heinola just has had some really shit luck and bad timing.
Totally agree here. The only reason I'm in the "anti-Stan" club is because he's been given so much rope to prove his ceiling, but Heinola has never gotten that same rope despite having the higher ceiling. That's what I said about Gretkzy when the Jets were in the Smythe Division ... man did I hate that guy. This made me laugh from the Senators board, I can't wait until Helly retires.
Hearing from Mike Mcintyre that Lowry got injured during practice today..
Coach says he likes the way Stanley moves the puck out of the zone, that was a great example

Yes, down 2-0 and we came back from a 2 goal deficit. We were down 2-0
Interesting and thoughtful pondering, indeed!I agree that Chevy is not at all the type to put ego over performance. So, what could be other reasons for him seemingly sticking with Stanley when it seems to many (but not all) here like a bad idea with significant lost opportunities for the team?
The most obvious answer is that he/they know something we don't know about player development and the impact of size in the playoffs.
The sunk cost fallacy/bias is another reason and is closely related to the Jets loyalty bias.
It is even possible that Chevy relates personally to Stanley, having been drafted as a big, tough D in the first round but never having the chance to make it himself, due to injury.
Who knows--just having a bit of fun here, on a rare day when I have some time on my hands. The bottom line is that we are all human and prone to making decisions that, in retrospect, don't make a lot of sense.
We've been very lucky not to experience what it would be like to be Lowryless for any real stretch of time. I don't think we'd like it - he's really the straw that stirs the Jets drink.Hopefully Lurch is ok .
You may be correct but Fleury's usage in Samberg's absence seems to say otherwise. The Stanley/Heinola debate is tiresome.
Stanley is a decent seventh D who has gotten an insane amount of rope. Heinola looks like a decent seventh D who hasn’t shown much more in the much-shorter length of rope he’s been given.
IMO neither should be in the Jets starting lineup when healthy. I suspect Stan will be in over Heinola and Fleury, so may as well just deal with it. I’m not gonna let who the team plays at the #6 D position impact my enjoyment of watching the team when I’m sure it has a marginal impact on the team’s W/L record.

And montreal practically gave away that D too and now he is getting his revenge.Remember we lost 2 better D-men over Stanley die waivers
I think at this point it is clear the LHD pecking order is Morrissey, Samberg and Fleury with Stan and Heinola fighting it out for injury fill in scraps. The bigger question is if Chevy tries to land a player that pushes Fleury down. You may be correct but Fleury's usage in Samberg's absence seems to say otherwise.
Fleury played top 4 minutes until his injury.
During that time Stan was on the bottom pair and even hung out in the press box a bit.
I would assume that Haydn has earned a place above both Stanley and Heinola at this point but that's just my assumption.
I know Samberg is close so hopefully he's back in for the Avs game or sooner!!!
Interesting and thoughtful pondering, indeed!
Probably part of my inherent bias for supporting guys like Stan, Forbort, Bogosian etc. is that I'm a big physical plug defenseman

I don't remember that. Please explainRemember we lost 2 better D-men over Stanley die waivers
Yeah, this should be good.I don't remember that. Please explain
Though I agree with you, I think the Jets want Stan in the bottom pairing regardless. They know Stan can’t play top 4 minutes, so Fleury moved up, but Stan is their choice for bottom pairing.I think at this point it is clear the LHD pecking order is Morrissey, Samberg and Fleury with Stan and Heinola fighting it out for injury fill in scraps. Therefore if everyone is healthy, I think they see the LHD pecking order as:
Morrissey
Samberg
Stanley
Fleury
Heinola
Question is who do they waive to send to the Moose when everyone is healthy.
Love my phone, meant due waivers, but Chisholm and Kovacevic, both actually able to play and fill in for top4 minutes and dont look lost.I don't remember that. Please explain
Eric gets paid to be a backup and should be counted upon to win a few games here and there, even/especially divisional games. So, does Comrie get the start against the Preds?
I know the philosophy of B2B and the importance of winning the first game but is it fair to throw Little Eric out there against the Avs?
Ottawa's AHL goalie last night should provide sufficient warning.
Just got back from the game. I'm now 3 for 3 when attending a game this season.
Jets should invite me to all the home games so we won't lose.
