The toe save off Laine in the third and bounce of Slafkovsky was also a beauty
Anyone bent out of shape with Laine’s “flu” comments.
I guarantee you would be loving it, if he was still playing for the Jets and said that.
Agree--it does seem like teams are taking liberties , especially teams that are losing to us, which is happening a lot more this season.Heinola has outplayed Stanley in everyway, and consider how rusty any player would be after missing so much hockey, it's probably good to be load managing him right now.
As far as keeping him as a physical player for the playoffs; he literally cost us in game 3 last year getting multiple penalties in a row when we were leading into the third. I like physical, but bad penalties ain't physical.
Another note. He's not a great fighter, which is totally fine, but if that's the reason he's on the team, he is not your guy. Having a D as a fighter is tricky too, because 5 minutes or more down a D is not great. If it's a 4th line winger in the box for 5, it's not a big deal.
We do have a bit of a soft team. You can see how teams take liberties on 55, 81, 44 and Perfetti. Adam can't and shouldn't be fighting unless absolutely necessary, he's a key guy. And, Adam can hold his own, but he is not a true fighter.
I'd rather have a really good D who can punish guys in the corner, like a Dillon type. And have a 4th line guy who is great on the forecheck, has speed and can really throw them if necessary.
I'm not a fan of staged fights or fighting at all, but if teams are taking liberties and out hitting us, it's certainly something to address.
Stanley is hurting more than helping
I'd say he clearly was the better goalie against Minnesota, Nashville and Edmonton. Was the lesser goalie against Vegas, Montreal, Vegas again, and the Avs.People forget that he's also had some good playoff runs.
I think everyone would at this point hahaI like Coghlans one game, and it was against Vegas. Meanwhile, Stanley struggles with bottom feeders. Unfortunately RHD, although I'd have like to see some combo of Coghlan or Miller and Heinola.
No one forgets. His one V good run was in 17-18. Cdn division idk if you consider a run, it was one series vs Edmonton where he was otherworldly and deserves props for that. We're going on 7 years since a good run (defining this as multiple series).People forget that he's also had some good playoff runs.
These SN broadcasts are tiring, I get it Blah blah blah gotta appease the Quebec masses and Winnipeg doesn't move the needle but the Jets are in first overall and the Habs are a dumpster fire.
Yeah if anything Coughlin is the unknown who might be better than AHL calibre
The Jets nuking their own elite shut down 3rd pairing in the playoffs was probably not ideal in hindsight
The angry mob doesn't care about context.Anyone bent out of shape with Laine’s “flu” comments.

Identifying, admitting and moving on from your own mistakes is one thing that seperates the good from the great organizations.Good organizations, and coaching staffs make mistakes all the time and I understand. Stan finished off the season playing decent but moving Samberg to his off side, while giving him a Stanley to try to carry vs the Avs was too much and it really degraded our 3rd pair which had been a bit of a strength for us last season.
Mistakes happen, the question I have is what, if anything did we learn?

And that's why people are extra frustrated. We have seen this not work before and it feels like the Jets are ramming their head against a wall with this Stanley thing.
Or you could look at it as a Canadian team that has been 1st overall in the NHL for most of the season so far. Guaranteed if it was Toronto or Montreal doing this that would be the story. The dumpster fire is a bit more of a story right now than the Jets win one lose one routine right now.
I just get frustrated with the Stanley situation because we have better options to play right now. If we didn't it wouldn't bother me as much.Admittedly he is a 3rd pairing asset making $1.25 million and I usually don’t sweat the details on our 4th line and bottom pairing too much. My give a shit factor on this is about a 2 out of 10.
Or you could look at it as a Canadian team that has been 1st overall in the NHL for most of the season so far. Guaranteed if it was Toronto or Montreal doing this that would be the story.
Is that really surprising to you?Or you could look at it as a Canadian team that has been 1st overall in the NHL for most of the season so far. Guaranteed if it was Toronto or Montreal doing this that would be the story.
People will look for reasons to be upset about absolutely anything. Any video I've ever seen of a dog or cat doing literally ANYTHING on Instagram has people in the comments talking about how it's "abuse".Anyone bent out of shape with Laine’s “flu” comments.
I guarantee you would be loving it, if he was still playing for the Jets and said that.
Not what i meant, i meant that the Jets win one lose one story line right now. If it was Toronto or Montreal all you would hear is they are 1st overall in the NHL.Is that really surprising to you?
MTL and Toronto are the two biggest hockey markets and metro areas they will get most of the attention regardless of what's going on. Secondly, that gets a bit old "fine by me" because the Jets falter when they get positive attention.
I think it has been proven that goalies need more rest than other players. There has never been a goalie who played all regular season games but there other players do it regularlyWhy is there a fear of Helly being tired but if you say that about the players being tired people think it's a joke? Just wondering.
You think you're better than me?!!So to actually provide some feedback on the game, it's great that we won and I'm happy to send those losers home in their Montreal jerseys. But this was not really a game you can be proud of against literally one of the worst teams in the league that just got their doors blown out last game. We were outshot again somehow and we were kind of lucky that Helley stole the game, maybe not stole the game, but certainly played exceptionally well and we got some really lucky bounces.
This game doesn't really make me feel great, but it doesn't make me miserable either, which a loss certainly would have.
They tried that last playoffs and he sunk a bottom pair with Samberg on it which is really tough to do. He was way too slow footed for the Avs. Once again he will be 27 when the playoffs start so what we see is what we get. It is HIGHLY probable he is not going to become something different.
One possible explanation they keep him around is to pick up the slack on fighting so Adam doesn’t have to do it all by himself. After the departure of Dillon Adam is otherwise alone on an Island. Stan is not much of a fighter but he is willing.
Yes but only against certain teams. It is too early to play playoff style hockey but not to early to work on the details and focus on puck management. Too many less than A games lately..I agree not the Jets A game last night but i look at it like we are a good enough team talent wise that we can still win without our A game.
