A pint of dark matter, please.
Greatest game, most inconsistent league.
Players glide with feet spread all the time.Look at the picture again. No player skates with his feet spread apart.
It appears you're right.
Typical NHL. If it was against someone on an original 6 team there would be a suspension.
Yup, and the Jets play the Ducks on January 5 so now we’re likely to see some more lawlessness. As expected. NHL does SFA about player safety.
Not even a penalty on the play, Pionk was suspended.
Jets' Pionk suspended two games for kneeing Maple Leafs' Sandin
Winnipeg Jets defenceman Neal Pionk has been suspended two games for kneeing Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Rasmus Sandin.www.sportsnet.ca
"We acknowledge Pionk's argument that this is an attempted full-body check, but this play cannot be classified as merely a collision between two players, where one or both move reflexively or defensively at the last moment to avoid contact," said the department of player safety in a video explaining the punishment.
"If he wants to deliver this hit, the onus is on Pionk to take an angle of approach that ensures he's in good position to make a legal, full-body check. Instead, having taken an angle which has him lined up outside of Sandin's path, Pionk turns his right leg and extends his knee, jutting it forward to avoid missing the check entirely. This results in forceful, dangerous and direct knee-on-knee contact."
As dangerous as that play was, the retaliation was worse. "Players policing themselves" resulted in this.

I believe in diplomatic and political circles that's called "plausible deniability".I played a lot of soccer and the number of times I just straight up kicked a guy in the shins or foot. At least most people on my team understood I wasn't an asshole, just slow. LOL
You spread you feet apart to slow down not to glide.Players glide with feet spread all the time.
And the Blackhawks and Sharks are only 9 points out of a playoff spot.Jets are 7 points away from missing the playoffs.
I glide to slow down. You spread you feet apart to slow down not to glide.
Jets are 7 points away from missing the playoffs.
It's always pretty tight up until mid January but it's surprisingly hard to make up a ~7pt difference.
Until we're on the bubble I'm not worried.
Whereas in real life, spreading your feet apart tends to speed things up.You spread you feet apart to slow down not to glide.
Well of course, that's what you argue over in court.I can't tell which replies are serious, but you 100% widen your stance to glide in and throw a body check. While I think the play was reckless, feet spread apart is not evidence of intent.
You also have to remember that the season hasn't been too hectic yet.Agreed. The team is doing what it needs to do and bank points. The more they continue to bank the less chances we.have of falling out.
Dammit! Walked right into that one.Well of course, that's what you argue over in court.
(PS: If you're looking for serious replies, this is the wrong afternoon for me. Tons to do and I'm bored, bored, bored...)
