Post-Game Talk: Jets 3 - Caps 2 in OT

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

Freddy Olausson was the Jets 1.0 whipping boy... but he was better than Stan

Tons of garbage Dmen overplaying their value while we dumped better players for them back then - probably too many to just pick one to be a whipping boy
I wouldn't say he was the whipping boy. He could produce offense. He put up good PP numbers opposite Housley. I remember him starting as a forward with Thomas Steen, back in the days when you'd dress 7 or 8 d-men in the lineup in different positions.

Cronin was literally the definition for meat head. He replaced Jim Kyte, who was popular here because he could intimidate a lot of players.

I would go with Ulanov for 1.O and Mark Stuart for 2.0 .

The Kyte/ Kluzak fight was one for the ages probably his best fight, the one with Kocur destroyed him

Does Cadbury reveal the Caramilk secret? KFC the KFC recipe?
You should know better than to ask.
I want him to stay but think Chevy or the organization has prioritized Connor, Pionk and Villardi over him.
It isn't just him. It's your overall positivity regarding the Jets.

Cronin. Bautin. Ulanov.
Good list. Would add:

-Stephane Quintal was high up there. Part of the Housley deal which was a Mike Smith special, obviously not his fault. But he was a penalty machine and would routinely get burned by faster players.

-Obviously a legendary dman in his prime, but wasn’t a lot of love for Kitty Carlyle in his last few seasons. Have distinct memories of family and friends cursing his name and saying how washed up he was.

Who knew you paid attention to my posts that closely. I am a realist that is all. It bugs some
Actually you called them down at the same time saying that you wish they would win so it is a no lose situation for you. If they win you said I wished they won if they lose you say I told you so. That is not a fan.

Was there ever a Jet like Stanley in the original Jets 1.0? Not singling anyone out here, but for a 6-7 D man I'm not sure I've seen so much discussion. With Stanley it seems to be there whether he plays or not.

Who was the Jets 1.0 whipping boy?
Jim Kyte, Sergei Bautin, Igor Ulanov, Boris Mironov, even Randy Carlyle as he got older and Freddie Olausson as he was buttery soft

I don't think I've seen Fluery play as bad as Stan's worst. He's just a better skater and more skilled player. But at 3L, Stan can be serviceable. He's a complete liability in the playoffs though. Too fast for him.
Agree to disagree. I think Fleury actually has been benched more than once.

I’m late to the party as I just finished watching the game on espn+(as I often do late with no idea who won) and man that was fun to watch.

Glad to see Ovi get another one(only becuz we won ;) ). I think a lot of guys that aren’t normally our thourobreds really stepped up. Two standouts to me were Ehlers and Perfetti. Some smaller guys. Ehlers jawing with Wilson says a lot about his commitment.

Also glad to see Bucky is back in his groove.

It's the opposite, his penalties cost us dearly last year. We were leading 2 games going into the third and Stan had multiple penalties to help their lethal pp, which killed us.

He's so bad in the playoffs.
I disagree. I think everyone was bad. If everyone else was good and he was the only one bad, I’d be more concerned.

Let’s hope at least, because as far as we know he is playing.

Wow. How dare you say I am not a fan. I think your concept of what a fan is and what mine is are totally different. It is probably best to leave it at that. I do not need to defend myself or my takes against such a heinous accusation. I can take being called closet leaf fan but not being called a non-Jet fan. Moreover, I can want them to win but still think they will lose.

You've been calling them down all season waiting for them to fail even though they have been in first or second place for almost the whole season. You cover your back by saying you are a fan and wishing that they win because then you will have said oh I wished they would win. You are right though, we have different definitions of a fan.
