Post-Game Talk: Jets 3 - Caps 2 in OT

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I love how Perfetti is playing this season compared to last season. He is way stronger with and without the puck and is so smart out there. I would like him to get a little more ice time but other than that i love watching him play this season.
What I've been mostly impressed with is how:

A> he goes into battles with gusto - no shyness.
B> he retains possession of the puck under intense physical pressure, often against men substantially bigger than him.

He's starting to give Martin St. Louis vibes. It's pretty obvious he focused on leg/ core training in the offseason and it's starting to show.

With this development I'd like to see him given another shot at 2C out of camp. He might not be fleetest of foot, but this new puck strength could allow him to be very effective there.

If only we had traded ehlers...

Samberg deserves 9m

Jets rise to play top teams... nice puck support

Stan better than fleury

Schemn should have wailed on wilson
If only we had traded ehlers... OUCH, but well deserved. We're better with him in the lineup.
Samberg deserves 9m.... Yah, I don't think so but close
Jets rise to play top teams... nice puck support...... YUP
Stan better than fleury..... Can't disagree, but are either of them the best option
Schemn should have wailed on wilson.... I was waiting for that to happen. Thought Lowry was going to engage. Wilson is a great disturber, everyone needs to be on a swivel when he's out there.

How about some love to the coaching staff for putting together those lines!!!!! Capitals are a big heavy team and play to those strengths. We won the game playing Jets hockey. I'm so pumped for the playoffs

Team played really well but id still like to see
Kfc-scheif-perfetti
Ehlers-lowry-iafallo

Both perfetti and ehlers had plays that their linemates couldnt finish...

I really like that. Iafallo has been excellent and may be able to elevate Lowry a bit, and I like Ehlers there. And dying to see Perfetti with Scheif at some point...

It definitely weakens our bottom 6 though.

The pass in OT from Samberg was really an impressive pass. From behind the net to the far blueline, bank pass hit Ehlers in stride on the tape. Ehlers still having that gear after playing a minute and a half long shift was impressive too, maybe he wouldn't be completely exhausted after 16 minutes like some people seem to say he would be!

Big win, keep pushing.

Just heard on OB's Jets Report this morning a thing about the supposed "President's Trophy Curse." So since the 85-86 season when the trophy was established, 8 winning teams have gone on to win the Stanley Cup. 8 teams out of 40...that doesn't really seem like such a terrible curse. 20% of the PT winners won the cup? That actually seems fairly impressive to me. I'd be interested to know the stat for how many made it to the final game...or even the third round. Personally, I'd be pretty satisfied if we won the PT this year and then got to the third round of the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, winning the Cup would be infinitely more satisfying, but just in the sense of what I'd consider a disappointing outcome getting to the third round wouldn't be that for me.

(also, I'd be interested to know how the teams that finished 2nd in those 40 reg seasons did in terms of cup wins)

I think Perfetti is starting to play like Hawerchuk a little. Not super fast but so smart on the ice especially with his passing. I know that's high praise but man i'm liking his game right now, he's a much better all around hockey player than ever before.
