Post-Game Talk: Jets 2 - Rangers 1

  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. After being left off the WJC roster in college, he went on to light the NCAA up... almost seemed like a big "f*** you" to USA Hockey

I think part of what we're seeing with the Jets post 4 Nations is partially them but also, the league always tightens up down the stretch. A bunch of these teams we're playing are fighting for their playoff lives. Time and space is harder to come by

I think it more of bad luck ... I call it the 4 nations jinx.
Connor is still getting his chances they are just not going in for him. He is still racking up the points.
It was the same thing with Perfetti when he was not scoring ... he got his chances but the goalie made highlight saves and he hit the post a few times.
Right now its Nino he is getting chances but just not going in for him.
To me as long as that line is not giving up a lot of goals I'm ok with it.

24-5-4 at home so far this season, home ice advantage would be nice.

Agreed, some of these numbers this season are hard to believe. I know its not the most important thing but the fact the Winnipeg Jets have the chance to finish 1st overall in the entire league is just mind blowing to me .

Could it be that the thing keeping Stan in the line up disappeared when we traded for Schenn?
I think they were insistent on having size, toughness yadda yadda yadda on the ice and Luke now fills that so we can move on.
Fleury's time in the top 4 made me think he was above Stan in the depth chart and then when Samberg came back they buried Fleury.

But now here we are.
Seems on paper to be the best fit of what's available.

The Jets still need to tweak about 10-15% of the decisions where they attempt awkward passes instead of just shooting.

Watched the game last night while trying to log into the HFBoards, very frustrating, not the game but the laptop. Don't know what happened, but someone f***ed up. You would have thought they would have done this "downgrade" during the summer when this board is not as busy, but hey, what do I know... :dunno:

Will update the Prediction Contest page with last night's results after I have some supper. I came up with an idea for a GDT for the game against Dall-ass, but I'll see how it goes posting it from my phone before I attempt to make more...🤔

Let's hope I can get back on my laptop, because this sucks...:pullhair:

Yeah posted a quick thought in the Luke Schenn thread, but overall I really liked his game. Some nice hits, big physical presence net front and he makes nice simple plays. My guess he will be our everyday 3rd pairing RHD going forward. I also think he is a player you can move up the lineup if needed. Also, like he is signed for next season, so not just a rental.

Stanley went from #5 to #7 D maybe even farther down the depth chart.
Stanley was only in the lineup for his size and toughness plus getting more experience but it just did not work out. Also with the Stars adding big time at the TDL Jets finishing first is top priority now so the Stanley experiment is over until the Jets clinch 1st or play bottom teams.

What a f***ing season.

Our two TDL acquisitions looks shrewd AF right now. Tanev just brings a while new dimension to this team. We've had some decent motors on the 4th line since Tanev, but guys like Kupari and to a lesser extent AJF just don't have that bite and consistency to their game. Tanev is a true disruptor, doesn't take nary a second off, and has some sneaky skill. He really doesn't look like he's lost anything since he left.

Schenn is a guy who knows exactly what his limitations are and he has figured out how to adapt his play to mitigate them by positioning and smart reads. Admittedly i don't watch many teams outside of the Jets, so I really didn't understand just how much he's changed his game. He's still heavy af so as an opposing player you have to think of that, but he doesn't take himself out of the play to hit, he uses it as a tool and a hockey play. Morrissey said he transformed his game after he looked like he was done, and he was right. I was thoroughly impressed with his puck management and smart little plays.

Logan Stanley should be watching very closely. If he can adapt his play like Luke did, he could become very effective, and consistently.

I sure hope they give Fleury a little run here, but I'm pretty sure Stanley will be in next game.

You can see how Tanev and Schenn are going to help the pk. We're already decent and improving there, with our pp being #1 and our pk being top third, our special teams should be a real benefit in the playoffs.


I'm concerned that four nations really threw Connor off his game. He's just not been the same since, and its throwing the whole line off.

Stanley has never had the skill Schenn had, or the physicality. He should watch and learn, but he's probably never going to be that level
