Does Stan end up with a couple of minutes more if the Jets had been called for fewer penalties? The way he played, I would say yes. But maybe it would have depended on the matchups as they occurred.

It wasn't just that he hit hard and a lot. He timed them well. He didn't remove himself from the play to make the hit. His hits caused turnovers in Jets favour. And he inflicted pain, intimidation.

I didn't like some of Schenn's play but there was the intimidation factor there too. We can't measure that but we know it is there.

I think Blues thought they could beat Jets in a physical game. I assume they know better now. Largely, but not entirely on those 2 Dmen.

I was really impressed with Perfetti's physical game. Obviously not dishing those big hits but he went into board battles, got his weight down low and came out with the puck a couple of times.

Well said Mort

echos my thoughts as well (although much better articulated lol)

in Blues Barn game 3, Jets can put a choke hold on the series with the win.

But for sure Blues will come up more fired up even more so than game 1 and 2

Jets are very good at everything except penalty killing? What seems to be ailing it?

It seems to me like opposing teams are getting their passes through much easier than what we seem to be and we don't seem to put much pressure on the high man as much?

The fact that he's in workout gear and not his suit means he was doing something physical during the game... maybe just rehab, but still a good sign
I agree totally, and also he’s wearing a sweat shirt that says Winnipeg Jets on it. That tells me he still identifies himself as being a Jet, and is open to resign.

Some may disagree, but if he’s decided to sign elsewhere, he likely wouldn’t wear that.

Just a matter of money likely ?

For what it's worth they did seem to "figure it out" in game 2.
Yes St Louis got the first PP goal (a miracle heart breaker after a good near kill).
The rest of the game they really didn't get much of a sniff.
Taking Stanley off the PK was a good move.
Using Josh sparingly there helps as well.

Now for the PP it had cooled off significantly before the injuries to our big two so it will be interesting to see if they can re-discover some of that magic.
The first half of the season our PP was so lethal and that was one of the biggest differences between us and everyother team.
27 and 13 allow us to reload that 2nd PP with 09 and 91.
That gives is a 1-2 punch that was so effective earlier.

I’m glad to see Arniel understands the intimidation factor in hockey, and he’s removed that with Stanley and Schenn, and our guys can play without fear. Very important.

I want him back for that 2nd line so bad
You and me both, but if he’s wearing a boot like some say, it’s likely a hairline bone fracture, and they don’t want any movement.

I’d say, for sure he doesn’t return for the St. Louis series, buy maybe sometime later in Round 2, if we’re lucky. Maybe not til round 3, if we make it that far.

I’d love to be surprised, and see him in the lineup for Round 2.

Maybe, but all season long Arniel pulled the right strings on the way to the President's trophy, and has continued to do so in the playoffs. I'd also argue that Arniel would prefer to be the team that other teams need to adapt their game to, rather than the Jets being the team adapting to their opponent.

Sure, of course.
But if he plays a pair of slow Dmen against a faster team and they are getting beaten would you rather he do something about it or make an adjustment? One of the criticisms of Bones has been that he failed to adjust. That kind of adjustment would be another instance of pulling the right strings. No?

And I didn't say anything against the Stan/Schenn pair except that they MAY not work so well against a different team. Make it to the next rd and we will see.

Regarding adjustments...

Yeah we changed deployment late and rode the top 4 defending a lead in the playoffs..... that's pretty normal I find....I think EVERY coach would do that if able.. especially with the pairings we have in our top 4...

To my mind ...it all goes back to the season.

Jets pretty much showed they can win any game against any team with the horses they dress. Next man up, Play the system. Dallas, Vegas, Avs, Oilers..... our roster, as is has SHOWN we can beat every team out there... (I know LA swept us this year, but we can and have beaten them) just PLAY THE SYSTEM....

Again Stanley played almost every game he was healthy for...I think there was what 1 or two games he was a healthy scratch...and Arneil stated it was about "getting Black Ace guys IN to games" as opposed to "taking guys out of the lineup".

and ...Sure Arneil makes changes...but to my eye it's this year there has been a lot less " adversity encountered!!!!!!! Line Blender!!!!!, bench this guy call up that guy"..... type changes, and a lot more more subtle changes to position, coverages, deployment, and matchups.

last year many agree Bones made to much change in the Avs series.... choosing to let the opponent decide who and how the Jets played... I think if he just let the Jets play the roster and style that got them to the dance? We might have been better in that series...

Stanley Changed game 2 and maybe the series with that hit. Kyrou was playing VERY well in games 1 and 2 until then....after that hit...the wind went out of St Louis, and they never seemed to catch it again.... I don't care about a potential scoring chance that never actually was a goal because he ELIMINATED one of the biggest threats the Blues had in game 1 and 2 ... and that was worth a bit of D zone defending....

So no. I don't see Lineup changes as automatic based on what team we face.or how fast they are..... and maybe that's OK?
