Post-Game Talk: Jets 2 - Blues 1. Jets lead the series 2-0

One of the better games Stanley has played, and I actually think that hit was poorly timed. Led to a scoring chance directly after it. He was good at breaking up plays in our end though, noticed him end a few defensive possessions by breaking up the play and getting it out.

Scheifele and Connor have taken it to a new gear this year. I was admittedly one of the people against keeping them together and they are shoving it down my throat. They showed a new commitment to defense in the regular season and have continued to do so in the playoffs. Happy to eat crow here.

Let's close this series out asap, hope Dallas v. Colorado goes to 7 and maybe we get Ehlers and Vilardi back for that series.
I was on the fence about that hit. I agree the timing wasn't great, but at the same time the timing was fantastic because until then the Blues were running us out of our rink and we needed to step up and say "nuh uhhhh gurrrrrl"

That was instense. Crowd was insane...

We have to thank Hofer for his standoff with Scheif for getting the crowd amped pregame

Could say the jets started 'slow' but i didnt see the jitters or puckwatching from last game... there was no point where it didnt feel like the jets were going to win

Bottom six is the heartbeat of this team... barron and tanev have speed, gus and apples close passing lanes really well... just all around solid

Helle was in allstar form could tell from the first save really... should have been a shutout

Top 4 D all control the gaps so well - so much more noticeable at the game

Schenn and stan are physical which is good - very fun to cheer the big hits

Ill be accused of being a hater but i didnt see the good part of stans game... he does not look where hes clearing the puck and it creates chaos... kind of like pionk used to do - stan also blew a tire that helle bailed him out on otherwise it would have changed the momentum

Scheif is in beast mode - first line is able to keep their speed while the opposition tires over the game...

Refs - i have no words.

Blues D looked gassed at the end

Noticed names was really throwing the body - and some very heads up plays by perfetti

Would really like to see what barron-perfetti combo could do next year

Better get my onlyfans account activated if im going to afford game 5...

Id do season tix in 325 - thats a good angle
such a hater
:sarcasm:
At least their d also blew a tire on our 1st goal so it does happen to nhl d man.

He should go back to slinging drinks.....hockey isn't his thing. People would be better off taking their talking points from Leah Hextall :eek3:
I wouldn't be that harsh but I will say Garret has ulterior motives for pushing his stats agenda. You can't blame him, the guy needs to make a living but I'd take anything he writes with an entire salt lick.

I did like that it was on a big name player at least, sending a message. Did not like that a pretty damn good scoring chance came right after though!

Honestly if Stanley plays like he has so far i have no problem with him in our lineup. Kyrou absolutely doesn't want Stanley in our lineup. This is totally Buff like and i love it.....

I love the hit, just, maybe a little more Buff a little less Mark Stuart next time. Buff usually ended a play (and a player) when he threw a hit, Stuarts big hits usually led to goals against .

Luckily Helle made the save right after.

100% worth it though, Kyrou has been their best player.

I'm OK with a defenseman stepping up to make a hit as long as he gets either the man or the puck... and as long as he has support in case the puck gets through leading to an odd man rush

I think Stan f***s up sometimes by missing the support read

Stan isn’t going to be watching games. But, you are entitled to your opinion.
Dude played 63 games this year averaging 14 mins.

and both playoff games avg 13+.. and we won a lot of those reg season games.. and Both Whiteout games so far....

Arniel said he believes Stanley in the lineup gives the Jets thier best chance to win.

Jets won the presidents cup. 116 points 54 ROW 43 Reg wins, .707 pts %
Jets have won the first 2 playoffs...

and Stanley has decent TOI in all those games....

How is this still a discussion? How can you think about arguing with the coach over it?

One thing about it Kyrou is going to have his head on a swivel for the rest of the series, unless he's just stupid.

Stogan Lanley is morphing into Logan Stanley, an NHL player.

Good summary, but after the Jets made it 2-1, Robert Thomas almost tied it on that shot that rode up Helle’s shoulder and dropped behind him. Only real chance that period, but scary one none the less.

True that was a good chance for the Blues but even that was more about the puck getting Helle in an awkward spot rather than it being a breakdown. Thomas' shot there was from just outside outside the faceoff dot from a not great angle, I would imagine the xGoal value of that shot was under .05

I liked how Arnie mentioned they needed to slow the break out of the Blues and that meant they needed to stop dumping the puck to areas Binnington could handle it so cleanly. He said that led to the forecheck being beaten to cleanly, the break out to be too fast, and that all led to the speed into our zone. Once they cleaned it up it allowed their structure to be in place and the neutral zone because a really tough area to concer for the Blues.
One of the main differences this season is in game coaching. I believe that’s why we are such a good third period team. I’m sure other coaches do this but maybe don’t communicate it as well or the players don’t listen as well. Either way, it’s certainly been different this year.

And I love how we can play down and dirty to match our opponent or finesse when we need it. I can just imagine the goals when Vilardi and Ehlers are back. In the mean time, Arniel has adjusted to make us effective with what we have.

Be careful what you wish for. The hit took him out of position & let directly to a high danger chance in a 2-1 game. That shot goes in & he'd be the whipping boy for this series.

I get the love for the hit though. The Blues have been been targeting our players, in particular Scheifele, with rather dangerous attempts that could easily be charging & boarding calls if they ever connected.

I'd argue that going out of ones way for a hit is green lighting the opposition to get even nastier.

Stan is already the whipping boy of the team. If it gets into Kyrou's head I would think you just trust your D and Goalie.

Lol rewatching the highlights almost forgot about scheifs running binner. Not a good look but binner seemed to absorb it pretty good. In hindsight i think it's a wash for that shitty call on schenn

It must be a bit of a shock for the Blues to be suddenly not shooting 40% or whatever in last night's game...
