Great game by Helle

Full credit so far in the series to Mark and KFC, four goals in two games, really stepping up when we’re missing two of our two four scorers.
I agree, Scheifele and Connor are winning these games for us. When 1st line scoring dries up, we HAVE to get scoring from our depth guys.

If we get by the Blues, and the Avs are next up, we’ll need scoring from our depth lines.

Hoping Vilardi and Ehlers return. Need help from the cavalry.

Great last 2 games by the Boys ! !

I thought there were 2 soft calls for Playoff Hockey.

The Blues player that went down on the cross check looked like embellishment to me.

The helmet grab penalty on Schenn seemed weak as well.

I could be wrong, but didnt Scheifele's helmet get pulled off? Was there a call?

Glad the refs are no longer a factor. This year's Jets are too strong.
The helmet penalty was rough. But it's in the rules. It wasn't a scrum like Scheifele's where the play was alive. You saw a good conversation with the ref and Schenn didn't argue much. Ref probably said something like you don't like the rule talk to your GM/competition committee.

PK stepped up at least. De Melo and Pionk as the 2nd unit still have some things to work out. That's a new look, but keeps Stan and Morrissey off the kill. Josh got in with Luke in the box, and he was good. That's what you want to see. Everyone stepping up. I notice Barron and Tanev took over PK2 knocking Namestnikov off it. So there are adjustments being made. Going to need a good PK to go the distance. Because winning tends to equalize/marginalize calls.

The nice thing about this year is that when the top line has slowed down, we’ve had other lines step up. I think that will happen here too.

I think you have it backwards.

Its a penalty in live play because they don't want players to cause odd man situations while the player puts his helmet back on or skates to the bench.

"A player who intentionally removes an opponent’s helmet during play shall be assessed a minor penalty for roughing"

rule 9.6 in the nhl rule book

Jets answered the physical challenge. Nothing will make Stanley skate faster......but he can equalize matters somewhat, with bone crunching hits......thought he really set a tone, tonight

Ps
Jets hitting back had some effect.......a number of Blues were doing the ole buttonhòok at the blueline, as the game wore on...

That 3rd after they took the lead was so beautiful... basically no great chances for the blues chasing the game behind 1 including on the 6 on 5.

I thought this game followed a similar script to Game 1. Blues came out with a lot of energy in the 1st but faded as the game went on to the point that in the 3rd chasing the game they looked a bit tired. They are still pretty dangerous off the rush but thankfully have had a lot of difficulty generating 2nd and 3rd chances.

The Jets did a great job boxing out Blues forwards in front of the net, esp in the 1st there were a few dangerous rebounds but Blues couldn't get to any of them due to the great job done by Jets boxing guys out and tying up sticks.

So far these two games the Jets have put a defensive clinic at 5v5. Both games, the Blues have failed to generate even 1 Expected Goal at 5v5 (0.97 and 0.92 respectively). Which is extremely impressive as the Blues are a pretty good team in their advanced metrics. They had been kept below 1 xG at 5v5 only 3 teams in the 82 game regular season (and last time as in December 2024!) and the Jets have already done it twice in the playoffs. Even when the Blues get their chances, the ability of the Jets to limit it to 1 and done has been critical.

I was very nervous that Perfetti missing the net with Binnington out was gonna cost us. Phew...

Gotta give the devil his due, a great game by Stanley... yes he is being EXTREMELY sheltered, only 10 mins of ice time including no PK time, but man those hits were great. Judging by his usage tonight, I would not be surprised if he is made a healthy scratch for Miller but I think the physicality and the win tonight might have bought him an extra game or two.

Monster game by Scheifele again. That line wasn't as dominant today but 55 was still fantastic. He has been the player of the game both the games so far. Connor being able to score a critical goal like that is once again why you don't keep him out of the lineup for an injured Tkachuk Team USA!
Good summary, but after the Jets made it 2-1, Robert Thomas almost tied it on that shot that rode up Helle’s shoulder and dropped behind him. Only real chance that period, but scary one none the less.
