According to Russo, to get ahead of any offer sheets next offseason.

Feel like they should have at least seen some more NHL experience before handing out a contract. Although, I’m not sure how much that would have shifted the contract one way or the other.

Looks like GMs are getting more weary of offer sheets after what St. Louis just did to Edmonton.

I don’t have any issues with this. Wally has looked fantastic.

I like it. You can't really pay him much less, but hypothetically if he absolutely pops off this year he's asking for millions more. So in my eyes and from a mathematical approach this was great for hedging risk.
