Jersey Tuck Rule Still In Effect?

After Semin was called for it when it slipped that way in the middle of a shift and the entire league *****ed hockey ops out they really stopped enforcing it. They also changed the rule to "must be untucked at the start of a shift and may become tucked in during a shift" explicitly, which is probably part of it too.

This is useful info, thanks....

So now the refs would be tasked with knowing whether or not a player jumped on the ice with the jersey tucked, versus when it happens on the ice... That's no easy task...

Yes, we would hate for players to show an individual personality. If this were the NBA, Michael Jordan would never have worn Airs; the NFL Jim McMahon would never have worn a headband and if the MLB, well...2/3 ain’t bad.
To be fair, the NBA fined Michael Jordan every game he stepped foot on the court with the original Jordans since they didn't meet league uniform standards. Nike paid the fines.

What even is the point of tucking your jersey?
The story with Gretzky is he always played 2 or 3 years above his age group and was undersized, so he tucked it in. Given the superstitious nature of NHL players, he probably just continued to do it. Everyone saw the best player in the league doing it and some people copied. Like once Gretzky, Lemieux, Bourque, Fedorov and Lindros wore high numbers a lot of people copied, or how when Crosby wore his birth year a lot of people followed suit.
