I have a bit of a different take on the game. First let me say that I think the Devils are the best team I have seen on Nationwide ice since the Redwings during their run of domination the early 2000's. The way they moved the puck around, the speed at which they do, the way they seem synchronized like a clock was just amazing to me. So, while I agree that Elvis was amazing, I think the Jackets defense was very hardworking. What I saw was our defense cutting off several passes intended to out the puck on Elvis' doorstep. I saw our defense dropping back and creating a wall around Elvis. So I think it was a great game, I thought the Jackets played a great game and I think that the Devils are the class of the NHL right now.

The obvious question is do we put Tarasov on waivers, bring up Jet, and give Elvis more nights off?
Personally, yeah, I'm pretty much ready to cut Tarasov. If he's claimed, then so be it. I have more faith in Elvis than Tarasov at this point. I acknowledge that I'm very much in the "what have you done for me lately" when it comes to certain players and Tarasov is in that group now.

How did Elvis not win it

It's interesting but I think, hope, that it also shows that the team is feeling good about Elvis in that they don't feel they need to "reward" Elvis if they think there's somebody even more deserving. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Can we get someone to do a wellness check on @thebus88

:sarcasm:
We jest, and in reality Elvis may well have a stinker the next game. It's all part and parcel for this season, and as long as Elvis keeps having some good games to go with the bad, it's good enough for me. Maybe we've lost a couple of games because of him (arguably) but overall he's given us a chance to win in most games, and that's all we asked (hoped!) for this season.

I'll watch the game in the replay, but the goals were nice. Marchenko - excellent passing, hopefully he'll start using his shot more. I'd like to be wrong in thinking he won't be a star.

Twice as many shots on goal and twice as many attempted shots. Last count I saw on the scoreboard NJ had attempted 92 shots on goal to CBJ's 40.

The CBJ did block a lot of shots but I did see NJ executing a lot of cross ice passes near the crease that they didn't finish because Elvis robbed them with good lateral movement that some people have called a weakness. Many times those would be in in previous games
At one point, we had 3 goals on like 12 or 13 shots. So one of two things happened (or both). Our goalie outplayed their goalie and/or our shooters were more accurate than theirs.

The CBJ got a nice powerplay goal and a couple of bounces that went their way. Puck luck came into play last night for sure.

As the prior tweet points out, the CBJ gave up a whole 💩 ton of high danger chances and Elvis saved 5 goals above expected for those who love that stat. Our goalie did outplay theirs by a ton last night. Elvis stole this game.

With Elvis extreme workload in that game, would definitely not be opposed to giving Tarasov the net against Philly.
