Normally I would agree with this, but the Devils were extremely "sneaky dirty" (in that they took advantage of not being penalized for anything), and then Washington wasn't the least bit sneaky about it at all (though again, not ever called for it). We've managed to keep up with the physicality, which is rather unusual for our team. Outside of Washington game 2, we've been averaging close to 40 hits/game, generally we average about 10-15...we haven't let them intimidate us physically which is where we often go into our protective shell and never come back out. I'm hoping TOR/FLA go 7 games + OTs and beat the hell out of each other so whoever we face has to play a bit more conservatively and the amount of dirty plays against us is drastically reduced. My biggest concern is we’ve been relatively healthy this playoff run, in large part due to who our opponents have been thus far.
The last few years, we’ve faced the Islanders in the first round and they were “sneaky dirty” in the same way Florida is. “Accidental” headshots, cross checks, slashes behind the play, etc. And we never came out of those series unscathed.
Assuming its Florida next round, it’ll be a completely different series than the ones we’ve had this run thus far.
