So happy to see us get the win tonight…..

We did t prolong the series so our vets can rest up for the next round….

Also we now have gotten nikishin a game without it hurting the team… we still finished off the series and got to see him in a highly stressful first game….

Lots of things to work on and help him to get better and more settled with the team. Even with all the rust and the tentative play there is a player in there and I’m so glad to see some things validated with our guys playing with him as opposed to just seeing KHL games…. He’s our version of the bouch bomb for the power play once we get him settled in…

The positives from tonight

-Closed out a series on the road
-Svechnikov continues to be hot and scored the GWG, this is the Svech we've dreamed of
-Won a coaches challenge! :eek3:
-Walker didn't kill Freddie
-Didn't let the Thompson save on Stankoven or the Jarvis double doink bother them
-Nikishin wasn't perfect but you can tell he's good.

Now we can all enjoy the weekend.

My playoff grades for the Canes since the run of sustained success began:

Overachieved: 2019, 2023, 2025

Par: 2020, 2021

Underachieved: 2022, 2024

Those damn Rangers series’ really were the bitter disappointments of this era. Just a horribly frustrating matchup both times. Getting swept in the ECF in 2023 was also annoying, but making it there sans Svech definitely exceeded expectations. Nobody expected to get that far in 2019, and 2025 was supposed to be a slight down/retooling year. 2020 and 2021 played to about their level in the playoffs, with the format being all jacked up due to COVID both times.

In hindsight, it really was that Igor was on the top of his game both times. Sometimes an elite goalie can do that and steal a series even with a talent gap.
