Player Discussion Jeremy Swayman

Disastrous contract from the second ink touched paper. Not hindsight whatsoever. Many of us didn't want to give Swayman more than $6M AAV and would have been fine moving on from Mr Business School and rolling with Ullmark/Bussi,

Bussi likely never plays in the NHL and Ullmark is injury prone. Bruins would of likely gotten a higher draft pick had they gone that direction.

I really enjoy seeing him return to form. Add in a fully rested D group, a top ten prospect joining the system, a rested Pastrnak, Minten and others trying to win a spot over Merkulov/Lysell and a solid and professional trianing camp run by a new head coach and I can see a lot of reasons to be optimistic.

I also think the Leafs take a major step back this off-season and Florida's fatigue and loss of Marchand and Bennett may also see a lot reasons for the Atlantic to not look as intimidating as it has this last year.

Sure people are always looking to steal someone. They are looking at Boston thinking things like some people on this board say. Cam is mad at Swayman and wants him gone. If I was a GM from another team i'd pressure that assessment. See if Boston is willing to do something stupid

As noted, his value has never been lower. So I would wait. But I don't want him on my team. I don't care how good he is.

That is irrational and stupid but there you have it.

I would let him play himself back into form, and trade his ass.

Bruins won't be transforming into a contending team anytime soon. Hence, to me, again irrationally, bring up Dipietro and Busse as your tandem next season.

So if (by your words) its "irrational and stupid", then why do it?

Because human beings are by nature irrational and stupid.

That doesn't mean they can't be right in a given situation.

Again, I wouldn't just let him go for a bag of pucks, but at this point because they have other options - unproven at the NHL level to be sure - that's what I would do. I would repurpose his money towards something that can help. Rather than tying it up in an immature, apparently self-centered head case.
