Jeremy Swayman The Next Patrick Roy

Nah, not really. You need veteran goalie presence around a rookie goalie which it appears is the case with Ullmark backing up Swayman. When it will become interesting is when Rask recovers from his surgery and he decides he wants back on the Bruins.

Rask wants to come back as he has said money isn't an issue and IMO you don't turn up your nose at one of the greatest Bruins and NHL goalies ever especially when you're aiming to improve Swayman with vet mentoring and leadership in order to see if he turns out to be either a Roy or a Raycroft.

Rask once he's healthy is absolutely one of the best in the league still and any team should want to sign him, but the Bruins have a bit of a backlog in net then, no? Who are you not going to play out of Rask, Ulmark and Swayman? I'm not convinced that Swayman is anything special but with how hot he's started his career they'd be foolish to relegate him to 3rd string behind the other 2 this year. And man that Ulmark contract looks terrible if he's not playing either. Rask probably re-signs once healthy but will be really interesting to see how they manage those 3.

You don’t think he would waive to be a starter somewhere else if it came to that?
Yeah possibly depending on what that team looks like and if he lives up to his contract and looks like starter material this year with the Bruins, which I think he will.

Rough night for the Sway Man in the house Carter Hart built, he’ll bounce back but this jinx thread is currently in full effect.

I'll never understand why openly admitting that you don't know who a player is (especially one that isn't a no name) is somehow funny or a slight on the player.

Anyways, this is his first really bad game in the NHL so I expect he'll rebound fine.

Exactly, anyone claiming they would rather have Ullmark mentoring Swayman over Rask, needs their head examined. That’s the scenario I want to see happen anyhow. I’d love for Rask to come back December(ish) if he is ready.

IMO the obvious choice (barring Swayman playing absolutely lights out) is to have Ullmark/Rask tandem until you see who’s the best out of those two and send Swayman down to the AHL to keep playing. Obviously throws a wrench in the plans if Swayman is playing unbelievable but it’s a good problem to have if you have three #1G to choose from.

What the Bruins couldn’t have done is rely on Rask coming back mid season while running two rookie goalies before hand.

At Rasks age with that much down time to injury you have no idea if he will come back in true Rask form

Agree on point #1, embarrassing

Point #2, I think on the broadcast they said it's the first time he's given up more than 3 goals in a game. The guy is going to be okay, no goalie is perfect.

are you refering to him being one of the GOATS, or are you refering to him as an egotistical whiny bitch? Roy was both.
