Anywhere. IDK.

But people are saying "No reason to trade him" because he's been better than last year. He was abysmal last year and had nowhere to go but up.

That contract is still an albatross and if a team is dumb enough to take him, you get rid of him.
Doubt there is a team dumb enough to take him

The second bolded is exactly why you trade him.

By the time we might actually want/need the cap space, Skinner's buyout becomes entirely reasonable.

If we wait until summer 24 (Mitts, Dahlin and Jokiharju need 3rd contracts, Krebs and Quinn need 2nd contracts), we would save money for 3 years and then be on the hook for 3 more to the tune of 2.44M. Very reasonable.

If we can hold off until the summer of 25, then it's a complete no-brainer.

Buffalo isn't likely to need the cap space in 22/23......or 23/24 for that matter. Hell, 22/23 we'll likely hold onto his salary to hit the floor again.

At $9M per year? You are correct about that.

But, hypothetically speaking, if Buffalo were to retain 50%...............there's a TON of teams that would be in on Skinner at $4.5M per year. That's under market for a healthy, productive Skinner.

Jeff Skinner has not missed a game due to concussion since 2013-14. He hasn’t missed significant time to injury at all in EIGHT years, including 37 and 40 goal seasons.

Is this really still an issue?

(The contract is another story)
Concussions are always an issue once you have had one. That being said, his contract and the fact that his whole career has been streaky, 1-2 good years, 1-2 bad years, rinse and repeat, those are factors that will prevent him being traded until more of the contract is in the books.

Agreed. Wouldn’t like that move for buffalo though unless they need the cap or a wing spot for a young player.

Skinner is their top scorer and best goal scorer. You don't trade a player like that for nothing. Skinner is also a hard worker and a great example for the rest of team. Veteran players like him are very high value for young teams.
Do you not understand what the salary cap is?

I was dreading this thread ..

I don't see a reason for Buffalo to move him. His contract is helpful for now, he has great chemistry with Tuch and was looking much better before Tuch and after Krueger.

Just move along unless you want to overpay l, which teams will not want to do.
