Jeff Skinner got his one playoff game and hasnt been seen since

No matter what, losing Holloway will always suck. Homegrown, skilled, big, fast - all things that we could have used on a value contract as Drai and McDavid approach their second contracts.

With that being said - don’t give a flying ****. The boys are rolling for now..
JJ/Bowman made a bunch of mistakes this offseason. Letting Holloway in particular go sucked, Arvidsson and Skinner didn't deliver like we thought they would, we hoped Savoie would be ready and he wasn't, and in general the team got older and slower.

That said, Podkolzin was a savvy cheap pickup that's fit in really nicely. Kapanen was a nice waiver claim. Klingberg has looked really good in the playoffs, Walman is playing incredible hockey right now. Ya win some, ya lose some.

The "lose some" all gets forgiven with eight more wins.

Skinner wasn't even that bad during the year. Knob definitely seems to have an issue with him.

He was signed before Holloway's offersheet and there was real optimism around his signing for a decent depth option, so im not going to fault JJ on that signing. In no world the Oilers should have projected neededing 2 million to sign Holloway, he had 9 points that season and is always injured. He had a fantastic season with the blues this year and made a great choice signing it, because he wasn't getting that opportunity for ice time in Edmonton that he got in St Louis, but when the blues needed him the most he was in the press box injured, story of his career.
The fault in JJ's signing, is that the coach had an issue with the player from day one. It feels like a "hey, what do you think of Jeff Skinner?" phone call could have saved him from signing a $3M press boxer.

He is not better than the other 13 forwards that have played ahead of him in the playoffs. It has been discussed. No one in Edmonton cares about any individual player. They care about winning.

Kapanen said in an interview that he understood being scratched for 9 games because "There are lots of good players here." Nothing to see with Skinner. If injuries happen, he can play. If not, he is our 14th or 15th best forward.
He might be, but he certainly isn't in the eyes of the coach. Skinner produced okay for a depth guy when given the chance in the regular season.

Skinner is just quality press box depth at this point. Team is gelling so well that he probably won't see action unless there's an injury. But you could do far worse than Jeff Skinner as your 14th or 15th forward.
He played pretty well in a top 6 role when both McD and Drai were out with injuries. Playoffs arent over yet and could be inserted if scoring is needed at the expense of grit in later series.

exactly, let the other teams fans laugh at us for "mismanagment" We've laughed our way to 3 out of the las4 4 WCF and lost to the SC champions 3 in a row. Doesn't sound so mismanaged to me.

He was on for three GA. Thus the time back in the pressbox.
To be fair the whole team was junk in those first 2 LA games so he probably shouldn't take too much criticism for it. But at this point there's depth guys who do their jobs well who have post season experience all the way to the cup final that Skinner just doesn't have, and I think that will keep him probably 3rd or 4th in line to get into the line up if injuries happen.

Seems like they cared enough about Skinner to spare him the embarrassment of not even getting into a single playoff game.

That was a charity move to put him in game 1. And tbh it was the right thing to do.
