When the playoffs start, look at the refs that didn’t make it, then after one round those who didn’t move on.Let me know when refs are held accountable (ie: fines) for doing their jobs poorly. I’m sure Marty St.Louis doesn’t want to talk about it.
Call penalties when they happen and players wouldn't have to embellish.I think it’s because the diving/embellishment makes the league and the whole sport look bad.
I love soccer and hate the diving in it. I think it’s a huge reason why many North American folk hate soccer
Huh?
He got up from his flop and skated toward the bench while looking back at ref. Why is he doing that? Or do you not see that?
Seems like this was one of them. Doesn’t look like much but he def fell easily.
I don’t like game management either but nothing justifies embellishment imoCall penalties when they happen and players wouldn't have to embellish.
I've had conversations with confused non-hockey fans who have seen plays and been like "wait why wasn't that a penalty" and all you can really tell them is "well the score is 4-1 so it's not a penalty anymore."
True. He could be reacting to something said by the ref.I see it, but is it possible that the ref said something to him and that's why he looked back? Someone might be able to make it out.
Exactly. As embellishment goes, that's an objectively weak call. Some refs have egos and chirp at players. Wouldn't shock me if Skinner said something back and the ref decided to make an example of him because his feefees got hurt. And the ref might have said “get the f*** up. Stop diving”
Lol
This is wonderful comedy.Typical Oiler
If he's holding the stick it's because he's getting hooked and tugged at constantly all shift and the refs are putting whistles away as usual.McDavid’s thing is more holding the stick to draw a hooking call then outright flopping. Seems to do it when he’s frustrated and not scoring to get a PP. but yeah that whole Oiler team knows their PP can get them back in a game and they don’t mind helping the refs get there. Skinner was more blatant than usual.
He likes to interfere, and try to make calls out of nothingMcDavid’s thing is more holding the stick to draw a hooking call then outright flopping. Both things can be true. He’s the best player in the game,If he's holding the stick it's because he's getting hooked and tugged at constantly all shift and the refs are putting whistles away as usual.
I don't see McDavid doing a special amount of dives. Every player dives to some extent. How many players exaggerate a slash or stumble a little when they feel contact? As far as I'm concerned as long as the embellishment is just highlighting something real it's just giving the ref information they are missing. Both things can be true. He’s the best player in the game,
has the puck on his stick a lot, and is also the fastest blowing by people. Surely this attracts hooking and tugging. But when he’s not getting results, he does look for calls. Honestly not a bad idea and it has worked well against my team.
He was pathetic against Anaheim the other night with the crying.
He used to take so much punishment and not whine or sell anything and it was pretty unfair. Now though he absolutely sells calls and cries to the refs a ton. The situation was unfair before but his reputation on that is absolutely earned now. He's the opposite of Crosby in this regard. Sid came into the league as a noted whiner but chilled out over time (but the rep remained). He doesn’t dive. Simple as that.
The only bullshit in relation to McDavid and the refs, is he doesn’t get ENOUGH calls. No one in the League fights through more hooks, holds, interferences, trips than him. Partly because he has the ability to fight through it and make it look like those infractions don’t affect him and partly cause the refs in this League are clowns.
No. He actually doesn't cry or sell calls alot. You've seen some selective clips of him on the internet from the hater brigades and got that impression. Through an 82 game schedule he's 95% cool, calm, collected. Puts his eyes down when a bad call goes down and just moves on with the game.He used to take so much punishment and not whine or sell anything and it was pretty unfair. Now though he absolutely sells calls and cries to the refs a ton. The situation was unfair before but his reputation on that is absolutely earned now. He's the opposite of Crosby in this regard. It happens pretty regularly.Cant say I've ever seen anyone fined for embellishment before.
none of us would know if they were. As has been mentioned already, the playoff promotion system is a pretty transparent way to acknowledge refs who are doing a good job and hold those accountable who aren't.Let me know when refs are held accountable (ie: fines) for doing their jobs poorly. I’m sure Marty St.Louis doesn’t want to talk about it.
How despicable and sad that the coach even tolerates this repetitive poor sportsmanship behavior. I wonder if his captain McD even talked to him about this or was supportive?
