Jeff Marek "confirms" Leon Draisaitl, Nikita Kucherov trade swap consideration by Oilers and Bolts in 2019

I'm sure "Big Game" Kenny was super hyped to consider it, until Brisebois told him that he would have to add to make the deal work.

Would have been interesting to see it happen with hindsight, but the two have similar enough strengths that I’m not sure if much really changes.

Good thing the Lightning didn't do it, as they never would have won with choker Draisaitl, and Kucherov never would have won anything either with those choking Oilers!:sarcasm:

In before Marek is fired again for leaking this stuff in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 :sarcasm:

Kucherov is the better player. No cap. Oiler fans are either liars or not able to properly assess players if they believe anything to the contrary.
Kucherov is better but I don't think the Oilers win the cup with him instead of Drai. The goaltending issues would still be present. McDavid and Drai also have that chemistry and make each other better.

And on the flip side Tampa likely doesn't win cups if Kucherov is replaced with Drai. Hence both sides are happy.

Why is that? Draisaitl produces more than Kucherov in the playoffs. And the Oilers roster would have lost $1.75M in cap space. And Drai is a better fit for McD than Kucherov.

Draisatl hasn't shown he is better than Kucherov at all first of all. Your arguement will be points, but any superstar is producing when passing to McDavid all the damn time.

Kucherov legitimately has been Tampa's MVP. Last year he was in on half of the teams goals. He's a proven winner, gritier, better defensively.

Not many skaters in the league I take over Kucherov the last 5 years. McDavid.... Might be it.

Are you okay?
I don't know if you did or didn't detect my sarcasm, but I'm basically laughing at the idea that too many people seem to have that the Oilers can't win anything. I predicted after they were eliminated in 2023 that they would win the cup in the next 3 years. They got to game 7 of the finals the first year after that.

I'm still maintaining one of the next two cups, but I'm starting to think they may have to either throw Skinner overboard or put him on the bench in order to do it.

And they really better not extend him for too much money after seeing what Daccord got from Seattle.

And Kucherov doesn’t get to play with Point and Stamkos and an always better D line.

This argument of McDavid inflation is always STUPID. And constantly used. As if other players around the league don’t get any help just cause McDavid is the best help around.

Taken as a WHOLE, Kucherov has always had better support around him than Draisaitl. Ever see the list of wingers Draisaitls had to work with these past few years? You realize the Oilers haven’t had a true top pairing until recently with the emergence of Bouchard and the addition of Ekholm?

Yes and Drai has also been at times the Oilers MVP. Outplaying McD himself in the playoffs. And for long stretches of seasons.

How the f*** did he choke? He had a broken hand and broken ribs. He shouldn't have been playing in the first place, TBH.

Clearly trolling.

What a tired, tired narrative. Welcome to 2024...almost 2025 now.

Ever take a look at the list of wingers

Drai is amazing but he's certainly not better than Kucherov. His numbers are likely slightly inflated by McDavid. Whereas Kucherov, like McDavid, is the one doing the inflating. A guy like Point is more like a 75 point guy without Kucherov. And Stamkos has fallen off a cliff this year without Kucherov inflating his numbers.

He doesn't choke at all. That post was clearly sarcasm and just making fun of the idea that the Oilers choke and can't win anything.

I've been one of the more ''The Oilers are very close, McDrai will not go cupless'' people on this entire forum for the last 1.5 years or so.
