Hey guys, Hawks/Cats fan but I come in peace. Was talking hockey with a friend of mine from school earlier (from Columbus and a Jackets fan) and the subject of the Keith stick to Carter's mouth came up. Well this guy absolutely despises Carter, said that in Columbus he was nothing but a diva, whiner, baby, etc and that he moped his way out of town. I don't know much about the situation, other than the trade from Philly caught him by surprise after he signed that extension. That being said, his stats in C-bus are fairly solid upon first glance (25pts in 39gms) Not trying to stir the pot or anything but just curious, is it just my friend's opinion or is it shared by many Jacket fans?

It's nearly universal. He floated around on the ice and actually showed up to play in maybe 8 of his 39 games, couldn't be bothered to backcheck, stormed off from a 60-minute team autograph session after 20 minutes (including swearing excessively in front of a lot of kids), and so on.

I'm torn though. Columbus will get an All-Star Game back in the near future, and I'm not sure whether to organize a coalition that would stuff the ballot box to keep him as far away as possible, or whether to get him in so he could be subjected to the most vicious booing of his life. Of course, as his time here demonstrated, even if he was in uniform and on the ice in Columbus it's not as if he would ever actually show up to play...

He floated, was an ass from the day he got here, was very short with fans, didn't try until he was put on the trade block, and the imfamous hiding out for a week before he had to be talked to join the team by Howson, Priest, Nash, and Arniel.

Other than that, solid great guy

Most of us hate him more than we hate Adam Foote. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the losing end of a battle to an overly aggressive mime.

When he wants to he is very talented. Unfortunately other than the few games Mayor referenced, he didn't care to be while a Jacket. That is why we we don't like him.

The "negative" (and that is a mild word for it) feelings about Jeff Carter are near universal here and 100% justified.

the stats look ok, because he had 2 hat tricks. The second of which was a few days before the trade deadline as he knew he was auditioning to get out of Columbus. That was the problem, we all knew he was a good player, but when you can count the number of games where he was actually engaged on one hand it's frustrating.

Keith's stick should have earned him a longer suspension against any other player in the league. Those kinds of plays have no place in the league.

Against Jeff Carter though, it should have earned him the Lady Byng trophy. It was about the most gentlemanly thing that could be done to Carter.

When first obtained by Scott Howson I was stunned as he's a very good player... but after a week of him hiding out somewhere in Philly and all but saying he didn't want to play in Columbus based on his actions I was concerned.. He basically crapped on the fan base and did one thing well, work to get out of town... I didn’t like his actions but was one of the fans whom tried to look at his hockey skill first and attitude second but was in the minority.

A hint to every professional hockey player, even if you don't want to play for a team, lie and say you do....

I'll sum this up in the easiest way I can. Wil Wheaton is a Kings fan and does this #teamhorsemask thing. Yes, he where's a horses mask as a rally/good luck thing. I think it's just a cry for attention, but it is kind of funny to see him in it.

However, to the topic of the thread, what I think Wil was looking for on a team with Carter is #teamhorsesass.

I agree with Skraut. Although I take that a step further. Keith should get hazard pay. He could have been exposed to hep-g or any other new and dangerous disease. Who knows what that dude could be carrying... :sarcasm:

Kind of like a quote from Goon (sorry, that movie is awesomely horrible, I watch it every time it's on)....Where's Laflamme? Probably in the parking lot giving some single mother herpes. Jeff Carter is Laflamme. There's probably some girls from Columbus that have been with Jeff walking around with the itchy, scratchy or worse.

Also, Carter's pretty mug has taken a beating this season. Lost his front teeth, now he's going to have a nice scar on his face.

I think Blackhawks fans in Nationwide Arena are the most obnoxious fans in the world but I am close to buying a Duncan Keith t shirt simply because of that hit.

I made a promise last season that I would buy a t-shirt of the first player to get suspended for an action taken against Jeff Carter. My Duncan Keith shirt arrives next week.

I want nothing but bad things to happen to Jeff Carter.

I save my tr00 hate for people who demanded out, like Dick Nash and Adam Foote but I don't care for him.

See, we have a group of logical thinkers around here. Well, mostly anyway....I can't exactly clone myself.

But we all turn into high-strung irrational banshees at the sound of Jeff Carter's name. That says more than mere words and descriptions ever could.

Most of us hate him more than we hate Adam Foote. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the losing end of a battle to an overly aggressive mime.

The common thread is that both played for the Soo Greyhounds. And that's why I don't want Darnell Nurse here.;)

I recall watching Carter dogging it on a backcheck when the opposing team had a 2 on 1. It seemed plain as day that he was not exerting himself; that he was going through the motions. That is my enduring memory of him in Columbus.

On the positive side, he did score some goals, but with that laser wrist shot of his, it would almost be impossible not to.

I also fault the former GM (Scott Howson) for not vetting the trade for Carter out more thoroughly. Carter had just signed a 10 year deal with Philly which had a very short window for a trade-I believe a NTC became operative one year after the deal was signed-and one really can't blame a guy for not being thrilled to death to come to Columbus after signing a very long term deal with another club. While there are tampering rules, there were avenues available to the former GM for gauging what Carter's temperature was regarding coming to Columbus. Prior to this past season's last 2 months and one playoff year, Columbus has been a place where careers come to die. I understood Carter's disdain for the trade. However, that does not excuse his less than lackluster effort on the ice.

The LA Kings Stanley Cup win last spring did not bring a smile to my face. Watching Carter hoist the Cup disgusted me. Go Hawks!!

Great player, but a complete dipstick. The difference between he and Jack Johnson is that Jack wants to build a winning culture. Carter thinks he deserves it. Watching that SOB hoist the cup (I am waiting for my friend Karma to kick his ass)

Jeff Carter is a Jackass. He's a MF'er that can go to hell for all I care. The guy is nothing but a Diva and stuck up SOB. I've heard enough lockerroom stories from his 3 month stay in Columbus to know that was the worst move Columbus ever made (and I was happy about it at the time). The fact they needed a "search and rescue team" just to get him to come out and play was the biggest farce.

Rot in hell Jeff Carter. You have no respect from this guy.

Care to elaborate? I knew he kind of dogged it but didn't know about him the lockerroom and that he went MIA

"Kind of dogged it"? We've seen aging veterans playing out the string. We've seen bitter scrubs just collecting a paycheck. We saw Nikolai Zherdev and Nikita Filatov. Carter exceeded all of them in spades, and only needed 39 games to do so.
